| 5/14/21 | Veteran catcher Tyler Flowers retires at age of 35. Veteran catcher Tyler Flowers has retired a week after signing a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves. Braves manager Brian Snitker confirmed Flowers’ retirement while speaking to reporters before their game Friday with the Milwaukee Brewers. Flowers had signed a minor league deal after Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud hurt his thumb applying a tag at the plate in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays, resulting in an assignment to the 60-day injured list. | 5/07/21 | The Daily Chop: Road trip ends on a good note, Tyler Flowers back and more. It began in rough fashion, but the Atlanta Braves ended their six-game road trip on a good note as they completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals Thursday afternoon with a 3-2 win. The Braves began the trip by losing three straight to the Blue Jays in Dunedin to drop to 12-16. They have since won three straight and are 15-16 heading into Friday’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. Source: https://www.talkingchop.com/2021/5/7/22424050/fans... |
| 5/06/21 | Braves bring back C Tyler Flowers on minor league deal. The Atlanta Braves have signed catcher Tyler Flowers to a minor league deal. The 35-year-od Flowers spent the past five seasons with the Braves, but wasn't re-signed after hitting .217 with one homer and five RBIs in 2020 backing up Travis d'Arnaud. With d'Arnaud out for an extended period and Alex Jackson also on the DL with a strained hamstring (and likely headed back to the minors after managing just one hit in 23 at-bats this season), the Braves have turned to touted rookie William Contreras to handle the bulk of the catching duties. | 2/23/21 | Travis d'Arnaud returns but Braves are looking for someone to emerge behind him. At least for now, it appears that the Atlanta Braves’ catching unit for 2021 will have a new look. Veteran Travis d’Arnaud had a banner debut in a Braves uniform and will be entering the second and final year of his contract in 2021. Apparently gone, however, is Tyler Flowers, who has been part of Atlanta’s catching tandem since 2016. Source: https://www.talkingchop.com/2021/2/23/22293882/202... |
