9/19/07Rod Barajas came through in a big way for the Phillies. Barajas was used as a pinch-hitter in the 14th inning and singled home the go-ahead run. Barajas has been used sparingly but this might have been his biggest hit all year.
8/21/07Rod Barajas, on the DL, continued his rehab with low A Lakewood on Monday. Barajas, playing with injured teammate Shane Victorino, was 0-3 on the night. No timetable has been set for Barajas' return.
6/21/07Rod Barajas got a start in place of Carlos Ruiz and responded well at the plate. Barajas was 2-4 with a HR, 2 rbi's and 2 runs scored on the day. With Ruiz back from his minor injury, Barajas will only see limited starts...especially since he is hitting .217 on the year.
5/21/07Rod Barajas has seen his regular playing time diminish with the emergence of Carlos Ruiz. Barajas did have a ncie game versus Toronto on Sunday going 2-2 with a single, double and run scored. Barajas is now considered the backup and will see approximately 2 games and 8-10 at bats per week.

3/07/07Rod Barajas, looking to keep pace with backup catcher Carlos Ruiz, went 1-2 with 3 RBI's against the Pirates. Barajas also helped break up a possible double play by sliding hard, not dirty, into Freddy Sanchez of the Pirates. Sanchez had to be helped off the field but no major damage was found. Barajas is slated to be the starter but things could change if Ruiz has the better spring...stay tuned.
2/23/07This is the first year Rod Barajas will spend spring training in Florida. Prior to signing with the Phillies, Barajas played for Arizona and Texas where camps were held in Arizona. Barajas is being looked to as the #1 catcher but knows that Carlos Ruiz is the future. Barajas has put up nice stats the last three years and hopes to continue but knows his number one job is catching and being a leader on the field.
12/21/06The Phillies signed Barajas to a one-year deal with an option for 2008. Once the deal is finalized, Barajas becomes the #1 catcher in Philadelhia.
11/27/06The deal between Barajas and the Blue Jays has apparently hit a last-minute snag. The Blue Jays have apparently cut off negotiations. Club officials were not immediately available to comment.
11/27/06The Blue Jays have signed Barajas to a two-year contract worth about $6 million. The deal will be official after a physical later today. Barajas will start the majority of games behind the plate in Toronto.
