2/18/10Aybar and the Angels agreed to a $2.05 million, one-year contract that avoided a salary arbitration hearing. He batted .312 with five HR, 58 RBI, and 14 SB last season.

5/02/09Aybar left today's game against the New York Yankees after getting hit in the mouth by a deflected throw. He was covering second base on Derek Jeter's first-inning steal attempt when catcher Mike Napoli's throw bounced and caromed off Jeter's helmet into the left side of Aybar's face. He walked off the field with the help of a trainer and left the park to visit Yankees' team dentist Dr. Scott Levy. Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said, "He caught that ball right in his mouth and a couple of his teeth are a little bit loose. But he should be OK." He might play in the series finale Sunday.
4/15/09Aybar went 2-for-4 with a single and a double to snap out of a 1-for-12 slump. He is batting .188 so far this year.
3/25/09Aybar went 4-for-5 with two triples, a double, and three RBI in a Cactus League victory today. He has gone 10-for-his-last-14.
10/09/08With the potential go-ahead run at third base and one out in the ninth inning of Game 4 of the American League division series, Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia had Aybar, one of his team's best bunters, attempt a suicide squeeze. Aybar missed Boston reliever Manny Delcarmen's 2-and-0 pitch; catcher Jason Varitek tagged out Reggie Willits as he ran back to third base. Aybar grounded out and the Red Sox scored the series-clinching run in the bottom of the inning. Angels’ fans have been calling for Scioscia’s head ever since.

9/09/08Aybar and teammate Howie Kendrick, who are nursing strained left hamstrings, participated in agility exercises with their Halo teammates yesterday and came out feeling fine. Aybar has not gone on the disabled list but has not played since the August 27th injury. The Angels have not set a timetable for their return, but the team expects them to be ready for the playoffs.
9/06/08Aybar and Howie Kendrick will take batting practice on Saturday and begin to run on Monday when the Angels return home to face the Yankees. The doctors feel the healing process is coming along. Hitting from the left side is going to take some time."
5/22/08Aybar was placed on the 15-day DL with a dislocated pinkie. He is expected to be out until mid-June.

2/21/08The Angels will give Aybar a chance to win the starting shortstop job this spring. "We're very excited about Erick's potential," Angels Manager Mike Scioscia told the Los Angeles Times. "He has the package to be a very dynamic presence at shortstop. We wouldn't have moved Orlando Cabrera if we didn't feel like we had people who could come in and give us the presence we need to win at shortstop," Scioscia said.
8/09/07Per MLB.com, Angels UT Erick Aybar (wrist) has been activated from the DL and will return to his super-utility role for the team. Deep AL-Only and mixed leaguers might want to grab Aybar as a cheap source of SB down the stretch.
8/02/07According to MLB.com, Angels UT Erick Aybar (wrist surgery) has begun a rehab assignment at AAA. The team is looking to activate Aybar in a few weeks.
7/24/07As reported on MLB.com, Angels utiltyman Erick Aybar is ahead of schedule in his rehab from right wrist surgery and may return sooner than anticipated. He has been cleared to begin hitting this week.
7/06/07Per MLB.com, Angels IF/OF Erick Aybar was placed on the DL and subsequently underwent surgery to repair a broken right hand/wrist. Initial estimates indicate that Aybar will miss six to eight weeks.
7/03/07According to Yahoo! Sports, the Angels have placed IF/OF Erick Aybar on the disabled list with a right hand contusion. After an initial examination proved inconclusive, Aybar was slated to see a hand specialist to further diagnose the injury. Until more is known, consider his return date to be up in the air.
6/05/07Angels IF/OF Erick Aybar has been receiving playing time everywhere, and he's now added 3B to the mix. For leagues with 1-game eligibility requirements, it is significant to note that Aybar now qualifies at 2B, SS, 3B, and OF. His multi-position eligibility and speed potential make him a useful bench option in AL-Only and deeper mixed leagues.
5/08/07Per MLB.com, Angels IF/OF Erick Aybar is making the most of his opportunity to play as the Halos struggle with injuries to several regulars. AL-Only and deep mixed leagues should consider Aybar if needs include AVG, R, and SB.
4/01/07Per MLB.com, Angels IF/OF Erick Aybar has made the big league roster as a super-utility player. With 3B/OF Chone Figgins hurt, Aybar could see time at a few spots, and could offer some BA and SB help in deep leagues.
2/26/07According to MLB.com, Angels INF Erick Aybar will get a chance to break camp with the Angels if he can prove his defensive abilities at 2B and CF (in addition to his natural position of SS) will be an asset to the club. A stellar defender at short, Aybar likely will offer value in '07 only to deep leaguers who need MI with a little bit of playing time. Overall, he's proven he can hit some (at least in the minors), but Aybar appears to lack the offensive tools needed to excel as an everyday player in the bigs. With doubles/gap power only and mediocre base-stealing ability - and lacking the physical frame necessary to suggest any maturation as a slugger - Aybar doesn't project out as an above-average starter at SS anymore. In fact, he actually might end up to be a similar player in the majors as the player that he could someday replace, Orlando Cabrera. Aybar should be equally skilled in the field (and that's saying something, as Cabrera's a pretty solid defender), but he likely will be less productive at the plate. Deep dynasty/keeper leagues, please act accordingly.
6/26/06Erick Aybar was recalled Saturday from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace Dallas McPherson. COMMENT: Aybar has very limited value in AL only leagues.
6/08/06LA Times: Utility infielder Maicer Izturis, who hit .333 during an eight-game rehab stint at Salt Lake, is expected to be activated Friday, with shortstop Erick Aybar probably returning to triple-A….
5/16/06Erick Aybar was brought to the Majors when the Angels elected to return Howie Kendrick to the Minors. Aybar's defense provides depth at Shortstop which is a position Kendrick could not provide. COMMENT: Aybar is a defensive replacement and will not likely provide much offense.
12/07/05From rotohelp.com, "... With a 68% stolen base success rate and only a .05 walk rate, Aybar lacks the primary skills necessary to take advantage of his natural speed. Yes, he hasn't hit below .300 as a professional. Scoring over 100 runs in consecutive seasons similarly impresses me. Yet I just can't view him as a vital cog or even a particularly good fantasy prospect when surrounded on the depth chart by Orlando Cabrera and Brandon Wood."
11/18/05The Angels purchased Aybar's contract from the minors today to avoid exposing him to the Rule V draft.
