5/08/10The Chicago Cubs activated right-handed reliever Esmailin Caridad off the 15-day disabled list in time for the second game of their series against the Cincinnati Reds.
5/05/10Esmailin Caridad began his rehab outing at Triple-A Iowa on Monday, and gave up one hit, walked one and struck out one in one inning against New Orleans. Caridad is on the disabled list because of a strained right forearm that sidelined him on April 12. He rehabbed in Mesa, Ariz., at the Cubs' extended spring camp. Caridad was expected to pitch Wednesday for Iowa, and the Cubs will make a decision then as to whether to activate the right-hander.

Caridad has been sidelined since April 12 with a strained right forearm. He was rehabbing at the Cubs' extended spring camp. The right-hander, who was projected as the Cubs' main setup pitcher this season, was about 10 days away from being able to rejoin the Major League team.
4/24/10Caridad is expected to start pitching in games this week. "Caridad has about another week or so," Lou Piniella said Saturday. "I would think by the end of this next homestand, he'll be ready to come back. I think he's going to pitch in three or four days. We want him to pitch a few times down there."
4/15/10 Esmailin Caridad was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to April 12, because of inflammation in his right forearm.Caridad said he felt some discomfort on Monday. He most likely doesn't need the full time on the disabled list, but the Cubs want to make sure Caridad has enough time to recover.
