5/23/24 Could Waldrep get the MLB call soon?. May 23—It seems like every year the Atlanta Braves have some disastrous injury to one of their star pitchers. In 2024, it's Spencer Strider. Strider suffered a season-ending injury and recently underwent surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, his throwing elbow. This leaves a superstar-sized hole in the Braves' rotation. Many experts are pointing to external ...
5/20/24 Atlanta Braves Reportedly Eyeing Former Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher. The Philadelphia Phillies are enjoying a red-hot start to the year that has seen their offense become dominant once again after a concerning cold stretch at the front end of the season. All of that has culminated in them holding the best record in Major League Baseball. After being out of the division race almost as soon as it started last season, the situation has completely flipped in 2024 with the Phillies holding a five game lead over the Atlanta Braves who have dominated the NL East for the past half decade. With the Braves looking for roster upgrades, namely in their starting rotation after losing their ace Spencer Strider for the year, they reportedly are looking at one of Philadelphia's past pitchers.
5/19/24 Braves Reportedly Interested in AL East Starting Pitcher. The Atlanta Braves reportedly want to reinforce their rotation. When you think about the season-ending injury to ace Spencer Strider and the workload concerns of starters Chris Sale (injury), Reynaldo López (converting from relief), and Charlie Morton (age), it makes sense. Per MLB Insider Bob Nightengale, the Braves are “keeping a close eye on” Tampa Bay Rays veteran Zach Eflin. Eflin, 30, hasn't gotten off to the same caliber of start to fit what he did last season, when he went 16-8 with a 3.50 ERA in his 31 starts for Tampa Bay, striking out 186 in his 177.2 innings.
4/29/24 Mets' breakout minor league pitcher from Canada gets Spencer Strider comparison. Jonah Tong is turning heads. On Monday, the Mets pitching prospect was dubbed an “underrated” minor-leaguer by The Athletic, and he drew a Spencer Strider comparison from Baseball America. This is the Jared Jones / Spencer Strider template.
4/29/24 Red-hot Braves turn to Max Fried in opener vs. Mariners. With Spencer Strider sidelined for the season following elbow surgery, Max Fried has stepped back into the role of the ace of the Atlanta Braves. Fried is scheduled to start Monday night as the Braves open a three-game interleague series against the host Seattle Mariners. The left-hander is 2-0 with a 1.77 ERA in three starts since Strider's surgery, including a three-hit shutout over the Miami Marlins in a 5-0 win last Tuesday.
