6/18/25 Bowden Francis Injury Further Depletes Blue Jays Starting Pitching. Bowden Francis has struggled this season. The Blue Jays moved him to the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a right shoulder impingement, an injury that has the potential to keep him out of the rotation for more than just the 15-day minimum. Before the move, Francis was 2-8 with a 6.05 ERA in 14 starts. In fact, batters hit below .200 against him before this season in 48 appearances and more than 140 innings.

6/17/25 Jays starter Francis goes on IL, Swanson DFA'ed. The Toronto Blue Jays made several changes to their pitching staff Tuesday, placing starter Bowden Francis on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement and designating reliever Erik Swanson for assignment. The team also selected left-hander Justin Bruihl to the major-league roster and recalled right-hander Paxton Schultz from Triple-A Buffalo. After a stellar second half of the 2024 season, Francis earned a rotation spot but has struggled this year. The move to the IL was retroactive to last Sunday, the team said.

6/15/25 The worst of Bowden Francis buries the Blue Jays in Philly — with no demotion (or option) in sight. A fresh-faced Bowden Francis, having shaved off his moustache in an attempt to change his luck, dragged a 6.12 ERA to the mound Saturday in Philadelphia and got off to a great start. The Blue Jays right-hander hadn't recorded a win since April 18 and had allowed 10 earned runs over just five innings in his last two starts — including one in Toronto against the Phillies in which he gave up six runs in the first inning — but he looked like his old self for a while on Saturday. The 29-year-old Francis retired the side in order in the first inning, then again in the second with the final out of that frame a rare two-pitch strikeout because the batter, J.T. Realmuto, had committed a pitch-clock violation before the first pitch of the at-bat.

6/09/25 Sportsnet's Buck Martinez on Blue Jays' Bowden Francis: He can't make another start. Just because you haven't heard Buck Martinez on the air covering Blue Jays games over the past couple of weeks doesn't mean that the venerable voice of the team doesn't have some thoughts. 6/08/25 Bowden Francis not the answer again as Twins prey on walk-happy Jays pitching. A series was won, but a sweep denied as the Blue Jays left the Land of 10,000 Lakes on Sunday with their collective heads well above water, at least for the time being.
