11/16/24 Braves free agent Charlie Morton explains why he plans to pitch in 2025. Free-agent pitcher Charlie Morton, who has played for the Atlanta Braves for the last four seasons, will try to pitch in MLB next season despite just having turned 41 years old. 92.9 The Game's Grant McAuley posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the veteran pitcher admitted he may have retired sooner had he had more success early in his career. “I do regret not figuring it out sooner because I'm not sure that I would still be playing if I had and it's taken me away from my family,” Morton said, via McAuley. Morton, a third-round draft pick in 2002, made his MLB debut back in 2008 with the Braves but was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates the following year.

"He intends to pitch next season at 41 and remains a reliable innings easter with strikeout ability," wrote Passan.

This marks the first former Connecticut high school pitcher to start in the World Series since Barlow product Charlie Morton started for the Braves in Game 1 in 2021. “You still want to go out there and attack, not try to get cute," Casparius said after the National League Division Series.
