Boston lost veteran slugger Justin Turner this offseason and still is looking for a way to fill his shoes. It's unclear who the club will sign, but it does sound like the Red Sox at least are looking to find another right-handed bat soon. Boston has been linked to a handful of players --

Red Sox Were Finalists For All-Star Slugger But Missed Out As Dodgers Got Deal Done Boston was a finalist for the All-Star slugger in free agency Author: Patrick McAvoy Publish date: Feb 19, 2024 4:00 PM EST In this story: Boston Red Sox Los Angeles Dodgers The Boston Red Sox could use another right-handed slugger in the middle of the lineup. Two-time All-Star Justin Turner filled the club's designated hitter spot in 2023 but no longer is with the club. Turner signed a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays this offseason in free agency. Boston has been linked to a handful of other right-handed sluggers but hasn't been able to get a deal done yet and keeps missing out. One player who popped
2/16/24 Blue Jays' Eduardo Escobar deal gets stamp of approval from a player who knows him well. The 35-year-old Escobar has played for six teams over 13 years in the bigs and is here to hit left-handed pitching, something he's done quite well in the latter part of his career. Justin Turner, the Jays' biggest free-agent acquisition of the off-season, arrived Friday morning and shortstop Bo Bichette absolutely lit up when the 15-year-veteran walked in.
2/14/24 MLB Rumors: Red Sox Unwilling To Take On Salary In Potential Kenley Jansen Trade. After back-to-back last-place finishes in the American League East, the Boston Red Sox have been criticized by fans for a slow offseason that featured more subtractions than additions. The team opted not to retain Justin Turner, who went on to sign a one-year contract with the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Meanwhile, Chris Sale and Alex Verdugo were traded away in what were essentially salary dumps. With Spring Training workouts underway, the Red Sox may not be done listening to trade offers for some of their key players.
2/12/24 Scrappy, Versatile Justin Turner Adds Spark To The Toronto Blue Jays. Signing free agent Justin Turner, the Toronto Blue Jays have replaced some of the offense lost when Matt Chapman left as a free agent. The right-handed hitting Turner, 39, was signed by the Blue Jays to a one-year, $13 million contract, with an additional $1.5 million available in incentives. As noted by Fangraphs, signing Turner increases the estimated 2024 Blue Jays payroll to $238 million, or $24 million more than their payroll last season. The versatile Turner may be the team's designated hitter, or he could take over third base.
