Dylan Cease was impressive for six innings before San Diego's All-Star-laden bullpen got into and out of trouble in the seventh and the Padres beat the Boston Red Sox 6-2 on Sunday to take two of three. The Padres have won 11 of 14 games as they continue to chase the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. Cease (5-10) cruised into the seventh with a shutout on just three singles and a walk before walking Jarren Duran and allowing a single to Trevor Story.

Adrian Del Castillo had three hits, including his first homer of season, and the Arizona Diamondbacks set a franchise record with nine consecutive two-out hits in an eight-run fifth for a 13-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies in Phoenix on Sunday. Ketel Marte had two hits and three RBIs and Geraldo Perdomo had two hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games for the Diamondbacks, who led 12-3 after five and finished off a three-game sweep. Arizona has won six of its last eight.

August 10 - Seth Brown is in search of a new team after the Arizona Diamondbacks released the veteran outfielder and first baseman on Sunday. A seven-year pro who spent the majority of his career with the Athletics, Brown joined the Diamondbacks on a minor league deal after he was released by the Athletics earlier this season. The 33-year-old was batting .291 with six home runs for Triple-A Reno at the time of his release, including a two-homer game on Friday. Brown struggled with the Athletics to open the season, hitting just .185 with one home run and three RBIs in 38 games. 8/10 3:00 PM Jimmy Herget (P-COL) Rockies Reliever Jimmy Herget Having Enormously Impressive 2025 Season. The Colorado Rockies have had a brutal 2025 campaign, and while it may have been expected given their roster did not see any significant improvements compared to last year, it doesn't make it any easier on the players and fans to lose that many games. One of the biggest issues for the franchise has been its pitching staff, especially after the All-Star break, as they have rapidly fallen apart in many cases. Unfortunately, this has put the Rockies in a tough standstill, where the offense is producing on-and-off, but the starting pitching rotation is not helping them maintain a lead or get near one. The positive is that at least a few of the pitchers have put together strong seasons for Colorado, with one of the most impressive being reliever Jimmy Herget, who, despite limited advanced analytics, has managed to remain one of the most reliable bullpen arms in the league.

The St. Louis Cardinals are not only dealing with the fallout of the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline, but also the injury bug right now. St. Louis isn't at full strength and the biggest example of this surely is Nolan Arenado. As the trade deadline approached, there were rumors that this summer could be the time that he was moved. This followed all of the offseason trade rumors and even some chatter early on this season.
