Luis Arráez had the go-ahead single in the 11th inning, Ramón Laureano added three hits and three RBIs, and the San Diego Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-5 on Tuesday night. Arráez was hitless in five at-bats before hitting a bloop single into short left field, which was enough to score Fernando Tatis Jr. from second base for a 6-5 lead. TEX8/5 9:13 PM Kevin Pillar (OF-TEX) Kevin Pillar releases statement clarifying his viral comments on Texas Rangers' culture. For the first time since his viral statements about his time with the Texas Rangers, Kevin Pillar released a statement in support of the club. Pillar spent the first two months with the Rangers before being released and announced his retirement shortly after. In early July, he joined Scott Braun, A.J. Pierzynski and Eric Kratz of the internet streaming program Foul Territory and said that this version of the Rangers did not live up to his expectations. “The team that won the World Series, that's the team I thought I was joining,” Pillar said.

Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer and Jake Mangum had a two-run single during the Tampa Bay Rays' seven-run fourth inning in a 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. Yandy Díaz scored a run and drove in another during the decisive inning in Tampa Bay's third win in 13 games. Ryan Pepiot (7-9) yielded five hits and two earned runs while pitching into the sixth inning for Tampa Bay, snapping his five-start winless streak.

CHC8/5 8:48 PM Andrew Kittredge (P-CHC) Andrew Kittredge 'loses the zone,' Cubs offense remains quiet in 5-1 loss to Reds. New Cubs reliever Andrew Kittredge got a dose of his new fanbase's ire during the Cubs' 5-1 loss to the Reds on Tuesday. Kittredge entered with one out in the seventh inning, following Shota Imanaga's one-run performance, which had earned the left-handed starter a standing ovation as he exited. The score was tied at 1-1, when Kittredge entered his third outing since the Cubs acquired him at the trade deadline. Then he walked Austin Hays, gave up a single through the left side of the infield to Miguel Andujar, and surrendered a three-run home run to Spencer Steer.

NYM8/5 8:38 PM Brandon Nimmo (OF-NYM) Mets' Brandon Nimmo makes tough admission after second loss in Guardians series. The New York Mets lost their second straight game to the Cleveland Guardians on the road by a run, and veteran outfielder Brandon Nimmo didn't shy away from owning the team's struggles. With the Guardians series loss fresh, Nimmo faced the media to reflect on the Mets' offensive struggles and the uphill battle in the NL East wild-card race. Nimmo's interview came after a tense 3-2 defeat that left the Mets reeling. The club fell to 63-51 overall, dropping to 2.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the division.

Ath8/5 7:52 PM Max Schuemann (SS/3B-Ath) [NBC Sports Bay Area] - Shea Langeliers makes Athletics, MLB history with three-homer game vs. Nationals. They don’t call him Bangeliers for nothing. Athletics catcher proved just what kind of pop he has Tuesday as he delivered three home runs in over the Washington Nationals in the nation’s capital. The 27-year-old didn’t just crank out the trio of homers, however, as he also finished the night with five hits — a career-first for the fourth-year pro. Langeliers also was on deck in the ninth inning before Max Schuemann made the A’s final out, just one batter reaching base away from another chance at either a fourth home run or a triple to complete the cycle. “Yeah, I mean obviously you always want the chance to be able to do something like that,” Langeliers told NBC Sports California’s Jenny Cavnar and Dallas Braden after the game when asked if he wanted another plate appearance. “Obviously, wasn’t in the cards tonight but all around, just an awesome night.” Leadoff Langeliers with a blast ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) Make that two Bangeliers homers ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) TRIPLE UP, SHEA ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) The first home run of the night was Langeliers’ 20 th of the 2025 MLB season, which also made him just the second Athletics catcher ever to have three or more seasons with 20-plus long balls, joining Gene Tenace, who owns the A’s record with four seasons accomplishing the feat. Langeliers has been on an absolute tear following the MLB All-Star break. He already has 10 home runs in just 17 games played since the Midsummer Classic, along with a .435 batting average and 1.430 OPS. While the hot bat is impressive, some numbers that Langeliers matched on Tuesday night are even more imposing. Langeliers also placed himself among some of the game’s greats behind the dish; he became just the fourth catcher in MLB history to have a pair of three-home run games in their career, joining Johnny Bench, Gary Carter and Travis d’Arnaud, per MLB’s Sarah Langs. Catchers with multiple 3-homer games: Shea Langeliers Travis d’Arnaud Gary Carter Johnny Bench — Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) Langeliers and d’Arnaud, per Langs, also are the only pair of catchers to hit three home runs out of the leadoff spot — where the A’s catcher never had hit until tonight’s game. “When they sent out the lineup, me and [Brent Rooker] kind of giggled because I thought it was like a, you know, a misprint or something,” Langeliers told Cavnar and Braden. “Like, they were just sending out the positions, but got to the field and I was in the leadoff spot, obviously I’ve never done that before and, yeah, I was just trying to be aggressive in the strike zone tonight and got the boys going in the first inning.” Catchers with 3-homer game out of leadoff spot: Today Shea Langeliers 7/15/19 Travis d’Arnaud — Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) Additionally, Langeliers added himself to another short list of catchers to hit 20-plus home runs in three of their first four years in the majors, as shared by MLB Stats. Shea Langeliers joins Cal Raleigh, Mike Piazza, Earl Williams and Rudy York as the only catchers to hit 20+ HR in 3 of their first 4 MLB seasons (min. 50% of games at catcher). — MLB Stats (@MLBStats) Aside from the major league records Langeliers matched, he also became the first A’thletics’s catcher to have a five-hit night since Dave Duncan over 50 years earlier in 1972, per MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos. Shea Langeliers (three homers, triple shy of the cycle) is the first A’s catcher with five hits in a game since Dave Duncan went 5-for-5 against Boston on July 12, 1972. — Martín Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) Stay hot might have a whole other meaning when talking about the run Langeliers is currently on.
