3/05/25 Dodgers Star Says He Was Only at 60 Percent Health During World Series Due to Injury. The Major League Baseball season is already long, but add in a World Series run and it becomes even longer. Players are determined to play through the pain to capture the title, and that's how October played out for Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Michael Kopech. Kopech was acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline and proved to be one of the most important pickups of the year considering the Dodgers only had three starting pitchers in the postseason. The team relied on the bullpen and Kopech recorded some of the team's most important outs during the World Series run.

2/12/25 2 star Dodgers relievers to start 2025 campaign on injured list. The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to begin the 2025 season without two of their top bullpen arms, as both Michael Kopech and Evan Phillips are expected to start the year on the injured list. The setbacks put the Dodgers' bullpen depth to the test early, though the team made key offseason additions to help cushion the blow. Kopech, who dealt with right-forearm inflammation this winter, remains behind schedule in his throwing program, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. While some within the organization have downplayed concerns, the hard-throwing reliever is still working his way back to full strength.

1/15/25 Dodgers blockbuster trade idea lands 36-save All-Star from bitter rival. If there's one obvious roster hole to point out for the Los Angeles Dodgers entering the 2025 season, it's the closer role. Obviously, there are lots of good relievers in the Dodgers bullpen. Michael Kopech, Blake Treinen, Evan Phillips, and Alex Vesia have all proven to be valuable high-leverage arms, but it's hard to say with confidence that any will lock down the closer role if given the chance. There are still some potential closers available in free agency that the Dodgers could look to sign.

1/09/25 Dodgers sign 4 arbitration-eligible players to 1-year contracts. Relievers Michael Kopech, Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol and Anthony Banda agree to one-year deals, while left-hander Alex Vesia remains unsigned.

11/26/24 Another Dodgers player takes shot at Yankees. The latest shot comes from reliever Michael Kopech on the “Baseball Isn't Boring” podcast. Kopech, talking to podcast host Rob Bradford about the importance of well-timed mound visits, said the Dodgers started making fun of Yankees' first baseman Anthony Rizzo during the series.

11/25/24 Dodgers can't stop trolling Yankees: One player became our 'running joke'. The Los Angeles Dodgers can't seem to bask in their World Series glory without making fun of the New York Yankees. Nearly one month after they dispatched the Yankees after a catastrophic fifth inning of Game 5, the list of haters is still growing. On Sunday, Dodgers reliever Michael Kopech acknowledged that one Yankee (who's now a free agent) became the butt of their jokes for mound visits that seemed performative. “Man, I really didn't want to say names here,” Kopech told the “Baseball Isn't Boring” podcast on Sunday.

11/01/24 Ex-Red Sox Prospect (Once Part Of Blockbuster Trade) Becomes Free Agent. The rocky, injury-riddled road that was Yoán Moncada's 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox has led the 29-year-old to free agency. Chicago declined Moncada's $25 million option on Friday for the 2025 season and elected to go with a $5 million buyout instead. Moncada played just 12 games last season after suffering a left adductor strain, giving the nine-year veteran 208 appearances logged — or 69 on average — for the past three seasons with the White Sox. Moncada, the former No. 1 prospect in baseball, was traded from the Boston Red Sox — alongside pitcher Michael Kopech and minor leaguers Luis Alexander Basabe and Victor Diaz — to Chicago in 2016, in exchange for eight-time All-Star pitcher Chris Sale.

10/30/24 Member of worst baseball team of all time wins 2024 World Series. Congratulations to Michael Kopech. The Los Angeles Dodgers reliever just won his first World Series title over the New York Yankees in five games in a postseason performance that's best classified as solid for the 28-year-old. He wasn't the Dodgers' best arm (because Walker Buehler exists, among other things), but he was solid enough to earn manager Dave Roberts' trust in October with 10 strikeouts over nine innings with a 3.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. Kopech, however, accomplished something much more astounding. Something he can hold over every one of his Dodgers teammates. He will now be credited with being a member of the worst MLB team of all time the same year he won the World Series. Up until

10/23/24 Kopech Set For World Series As White Sox Look To Teenage Talent. Cut loose by a White Sox team stumbling toward a record 121 losses, Michael Kopech gets a chance to help the Dodgers win the World Series. It's yet another form of torture for a legion of Chicago fans, especially since the trade that sent him to Los Angeles seemed so one-sided. Kopech was dealt to the Dodgers in a three-team deal that also saw Erick Fedde and Tommy Pham land in St. Louis. It was part of a downsizing movement that included Eloy Jimenez, Paul DeJong and Tanner Banks being traded to contenders, with the White Sox saving about $13 million in salary.

10/20/24 When was Michael Kopech's last start before NLCS Game 6 vs. Mets?. Dave Roberts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are turning to their bullpen in Game 6 of the NLCS against the New York Mets on Sunday night. For the second time in this series, the Dodgers will lean entirely on their stable of relief pitchers without using a traditional starter. Michael Kopech is getting the start for Los Angeles and figures to be the first of many arms that Roberts will turn to in this one. Starting the first inning will be a strange feeling for Kopech, who has not made a start in over a year, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

10/12/24 Having all these former players in the postseason is not a good look for the Chicago White Sox. The Chicago White Sox's postseason chances may have died in April, but that does not mean the team does not have a presence in the playoffs. Plenty of former White Sox players were part of teams who made the postseason and are still alive. You at least have to wonder how the White Sox got the bare minimum for reliever Michael Kopech at the trade deadline. Also, what do the New York Yankees know about Tim Hill, Jake Cousins, and Duke Ellis that the Sox did not?

9/16/24 2025 White Sox could be worst team in MLB history after offseason plan revealed. The Chicago White Sox currently own the worst winning percentage in the modern era of Major League Baseball and there's a chance they could do even worse next season. Chicago opened this season with a bad roster that has only gotten worse after it dealt Michael Kopech, Eloy Jimenez, Tommy Pham, Paul DeJong, and Erick Fedde at the MLB Trade Deadline.

9/03/24 Who Is Dodgers Prospect Edgardo Henriquez & Could He Debut In 2024?. Having one of the older reliever groups around the league, the Dodgers shuffling arms to sustain success isn't uncommon for this organization. At the trade deadline, they acquired Michael Kopech from the Chicago White Sox, who has shown his immense potential during his short time with the club. Aside from a few arms still working their way back from injury, a wild card name is Edgardo Henriquez, a 22-year-old flamethrower currently in Triple-A. Starting the year in Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, he's since risen through four levels in the Dodgers' farm system. Through 49 innings (38 games) between each Minor League level, Henriquez owns a 2.57 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts.

9/01/24 Brady's Take: Chicago White Sox Trade Story From MLB Insider is Absolutely Absurd. Chicago White Sox fans should be hurt, embarrassed, and angry at ownership and the front office. The team is going to set the record for most losses in a season, eclipsing the 1962 Mets in futility. While the Los Angeles Dodgers are ecstatic they stole reliever Michael Kopech from the Chicago White Sox in their deal for utilityman Tommy Edman, the Kansas City Royals quietly are seething.

8/26/24 Michael Kopech felt a return to form before joining Dodgers. It did not take long for Michel Kopech to realize he had a chance to become immaculate. What the Dodgers' new late-inning, high-leverage reliever did not realize, in the moment, was that he was about to become resurgent. For starters, Kopech's team at the time, the downtrodden Chicago White Sox, were about to win a game. The White Sox already have lost 100 games this season, all before Labor Day, so it was a rare opportunity indeed.

8/19/24 Michael Kopech getting days off due to fatigue. Michael Kopech has been arguably the best reliever in MLB since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers, and they have relied on him as such. First joining the team as a setup man and picking up four holds, Kopech has now essentially become the Dodgers closer, and he's recorded two saves in his last two outings. Kopech still managed to pitch a perfect inning and record the save during Sunday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals, but he only averaged 96.7 mph on his fastball.

8/17/24 Michael Kopech Helps Dodgers Tie Franchise Record For Pitchers With Save. The Los Angeles Dodgers opened their series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a 7-6 victory that ended with Michael Kopech closing it out. With that, he also became the 12th Dodgers pitcher this season to record a save, which ties a franchise record that was set in 2022. Evan Phillips leads the way with 15 saves this season, while Daniel Hudson (nine) and Alex Vesia (five) are the only other Dodgers relievers with more than one.

8/16/24 Dave Roberts Not Ruling Out Michael Kopech As Dodgers Closer. The Los Angeles Dodgers' bullpen is among those in Major League Baseball with the highest usage, seeing a number of arms feel the effects of a large workload. At the trade deadline, the Dodgers acquired one of the most intriguing relief options available in Michael Kopech. Since joining the Dodgers, Kopech has expanded that intrigue, tallying seven straight scoreless appearances. Because the Dodgers have some uncertainty with the closer role as it currently stands, Kopech and his overpowering stuff have become a hot name for that role.
