4/29/25 Rockies' nightmare start, worst ever among National League teams in modern era, keeps spiraling. Colorado lost its eighth straight game on Tuesday at Coors Field, an 8-2 defeat to the Braves that was never in doubt. German Marquez, who's yet to regain his All-Star form, was hit hard for seven runs in five-plus innings. Firing hitting coach Hensley Meulens and replacing him with Rocktober boss Clint Hurdle has done nothing to reverse the course of a club that is currently tracking toward the most abysmal record in baseball history. The Rockies, owners of an MLB-worst minus-78 run differential, are already 15.5 games back of the first-place Dodgers in the NL West and it's not even May. Coming off consecutive 100-loss seasons, Colorado is on an early pace to surpass the futility of the 2024 White Sox, who set a modern-era record with 121 losses.

4/24/25 Rockies tie franchise record with 13th straight road defeat as German Marquez, Chase Dollander falter in Kansas City. With veteran German Marquez and rookie Chase Dollander on the bump, Colorado lost both games of the doubleheader in Kansas City. It also dropped the Rockies to 4-20, continuing their worst start ever, and 1-14 on the road. Colorado blew a lead in Game 1 as Marquez sputtered and the offense went silent after some early highlights, then besides one player, the bats went M.I.A. in Game 2.

4/13/25 Rockies Journal: German Marquez, Ryan McMahon trades top list of possible changes. For disgruntled Rockies fans, change should have come yesterday. When the earthquake struck Ball Arena and coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth were fired, I predicted that my inbox would be filled with emails from Rockies fans demanding that a similar shakeup occur at 20th and Blake. Bud Black should be gone. Bill Schmidt should be gone.

7/22/24 Rockies' German Marquez placed on injured list with right elbow inflammation following first start of season. German Marquez's comeback was short-lived — at least for now. After making his first start of the season on July 14 in New York in his return from Tommy John surgery, the Rockies placed the right-hander on the 15-day injured list on Monday with right elbow inflammation. Marquez, who broke the Rockies' career strikeout record in his 2024 debut, didn't feel right after that start despite a week off because of the All-Star break. “When we came back from the break and got together on (July 18) for our workout, through that Friday and Saturday, German's arm just didn't bounce back from the start in New York,” Colorado manager Bud Black said.

On Sunday afternoon, he'll get an immediate opportunity to re-establish himself as the Rockies' stopper when Colorado tries to avoid being swept by the host New York Mets in the finale of a three-game series. The right-handed Marquez is slated to oppose Mets left-hander Jose Quintana (4-5, 3.91 ERA). The Mets won their fifth straight game Saturday as Jeff McNeil's two-run double capped a four-run second inning in a 7-3 victory.
