4/29/25 Falcons Third-Rounder Ranked Among Best Picks in 2025 NFL Draft. Much of the national conversation around the 2025 NFL Draft for the Atlanta Falcons has been the team's trade back up into the first round. But general manager Terry Fontenot orchestrated two significant trades up the board during the 2025 Draft. The second trade up was for Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts. On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated's (and SI on Falcons' own) Daniel Flick named Watts one of his favorite selections of the entire 2025 draft class. "Atlanta's defense has 20 interceptions over the past two seasons, and safety Jessie Bates III has 10 of them. The Falcons needed another playmaker on the back end," Flick wrote . "Enter Watts, a two-time consensus All-American who had 13 interceptions

4/29/25 Shedeur Sanders was not the only prospect to receive a prank call during the NFL draft. The Shedeur Sanders call made headlines when the Atlanta Falcons said that defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich's son was responsible. "His phone was getting called nonstop,” Allen Graham told the Free Press via text message.

4/29/25 5 former Alabama prep standouts among undrafted prospects landing NFL deals. Seven NFL teams have released the lists of undrafted players that they will be signing when rookie minicamps arrive. Even before the NFL Draft ends, teams begin lining up undrafted players to fill out their rookie classes. But teams often don't announce their new players until they have passed their physicals at rookie minicamp and signed their contracts. But the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the players with whom they have agreed to terms. The 103 undrafted prospects include 12 who played at Alabama high schools and colleges. The 12 players and their new NFL teams include:

4/28/25 Atlanta Falcons to face Tetairoa McMillan, Emeka Egbuka in NFC South. The NFC South hasn't ranked among the NFL's premier divisions in recent years. In fact, it hasn't had two playoff participants in the same season since 2020. The Falcons, who were among the teams who received generally positive reviews, bolstered their defense with edge rushers Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. in the first round, while adding safeties Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman Jr. later. Not everyone is sold on the team's strategy — the Falcons paid a hefty price to acquire Pearce, after all — but the Falcons, who were 8-9 this past season, took a necessary approach.

4/27/25 Browns HC Kevin Stefanski on Shedeur Sanders prank call: 'People are morons'. As Shedeur Sanders fell from the first to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, fans were stunned when a group of college students pulled off a prank call on the Colorado quarterback. After the culprit was later determined to be Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski did not hold back in his criticism of the joke. Stefanski was displeased by how his new player was treated during a trivial moment in his life.

4/27/25 New Report Makes Patriots Trade Look Like Even Bigger Win. The Patriots' Matthew Judon trade last summer proved to be a massive victory for the franchise. New England last August traded Judon to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. Mike Vrabel and company finally were able to utilize the asset Friday, but they chose not to pick at No. 77 overall.

4/27/25 DC Jeff Ulbrich Has Plans Beyond Safety for Falcons Fourth-Round Prospect. It's easy to quickly look at the 2025 NFL Draft class for the Atlanta Falcons , and see their top four selections are listed at two positions. I discussed that fact during Day 3 of the draft Saturday. But Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich made it clear to reporters in his first public comments after the team drafted Oklahoma defensive back Billy Bowman at No. 118 in the fourth round that Bowman will initially play nickel cornerback, not safety, with the Falcons. "I think that's a little bit more conducive to his skill set," Ulbrich told reporters Saturday . "A little bit shorter limbs, a little bit smaller stature. I think nickels need short space quickness (and) the ability to match

4/27/25 Falcons 2025 Draft Review: Grades, Analysis & Quotes for All 5 Picks. There were laughs, smiles and a bubbling sense of satisfaction -- with a dash of urgency sprinkled on top. As Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot followed head coach Raheem Morris out the door of the team's Jimmy Cribb Media Room for the final time of draft weekend, the duo confidently strutted back into the war room. Fontenot and Morris still needed to attack the "eighth round," as Fontenot described the 2025 NFL draft's pool of undrafted free agents.

4/26/25 Falcons Lose 2 Possible Kirk Cousins Trade Partners on Day 3 of NFL Draft. A current backup quarterback was traded in the middle of Day 3 of the 2025 NFL draft, and despite pre-draft speculation, it wasn't Atlanta Falcons passer Kirk Cousins. The Seattle Seahawks, who drafted Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe at No. 92 overall Friday night, dealt Sam Howell and pick No. 172 overall to the Minnesota Vikings for the 142th pick, according to ESPN.

4/26/25 5 Prospects Who Make Sense for Rams on Day 3. The Los Angeles Rams finally made two selections on the second night of the NFL Draft. After trading back with the Atlanta Falcons, the team selected Terrance Ferguson as their newest tight end before taking edge rusher Josaiah Stewart at No. 90 overall. It's a solid start for the Rams, who had needs at both positions and secured two potential impact players right away. Los Angeles bestows six draft picks on the third day of the draft.

4/26/25 Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts falls to the Atlanta Falcons in third round of NFL Draft. Rated as the third- or fourth-best safety in most pre-draft projections, Notre Dame's Xavier Watts was the sixth player taken at his position.

4/25/25 Rams rumors: Two WRs LA tried to trade for in NFL Draft first round. The Los Angeles Rams ended the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft without making a pick, but that was not always their goal. Before trading the No. 26 pick to the Atlanta Falcons, the Rams reportedly tried to trade up for a pair of wideouts but could not get the deal done in time. The Rams supposedly tried to get the action going early, attempting to trade up for Arizona wideout Tetairoa McMillan, according to 'The Dan Patrick Show,' via SB Nation's Blaine Grisak. After that plan failed, general manager Les Snead got back on the phones in an effort to move up for Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka.

4/24/25 'Lot of Chatter' on Falcons Drafting Tennessee Pass Rusher James Pearce Jr.. The Atlanta Falcons hosted Tennessee outside linebacker James Pearce Jr. at their facility three weeks ago. Pearce may be headed back to Flowery Branch after Thursday night's opening round of the 2025 NFL draft. Two insiders who correctly predicted the Falcons' surprising first-round selection of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. last year have Atlanta adding Pearce to its pass rush Thursday.

4/24/25 Falcons Go Green in The Athletic's Mock Draft. With fans, media and former players clamoring for the Atlanta Falcons to draft an edge rusher with the No. 15 overall pick in Thursday's first round, The Athletic delivered in their beat writer Mock Draft. Long-time Falcons' writer Josh Kendall selected Marshall's Mike Green when he was on the clock at No. 15. "Green, who led the FBS in sacks last year with 17, has off-field issues (two sexual assault allegations that resulted in no charges, and in which Green has denied any wrongdoing) and won't be an option for some teams, but Atlanta will point to strong references from his coaches and will be motivated by a chance to fix its historically bad sack numbers,” wrote Kendall on The Athletic. The Falcons chronically bad pass rush has been well documented.

4/23/25 Experts' Choice: Who will Colts pick in first round of 2025 NFL Draft?. Consider this your annual reminder that 1) mock drafts are an inexact science and 2) teams operate with much more – much more – information than is accessible to the general public. A classic sliding doors moment happened last year when the Atlanta Falcons selected quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick – this after signing Kirk Cousins to a sizable contract in free agency a month prior. The ripple effects of that pick were felt throughout the first round; when the Colts selected defensive end Laiatu Latu with the No. 15 overall pick, he was the first defensive player off the board.

4/23/25 Atlanta Falcons Trade Back Twice in Dream Mock Draft from The Athletic. With the 2025 NFL Draft starting on Thursday night, the number of mock drafts thankfully draws to a close. The fatigue levels of reading various opinions regarding the Atlanta Falcons will morph into a discussion about who the team actually selected. With that in mind, we've seen players' stock seemingly rise significantly like Marshall edge rusher Mike Green or slip like Tennessee pass rusher James Pearce Jr.. Either way, by the time Monday morning rolls around, the world will know what the Falcons' draft strategy actually was and not subject to speculation. If you talk to a member of Falcons media or member of the fanbase, almost by a consensus, all want the organization to draft a pass rusher while adding more picks.

4/21/25 Falcons add veteran quarterback amid Kirk Cousins trade rumors. The Atlanta Falcons appeared to fire off a signal ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft at quarterback. Their newest signing could officially help push Kirk Cousins out. Atlanta and head coach Raheem Morris have signed Easton Stick away from the Los Angeles Chargers. The franchise announced the signing Monday afternoon . Stick spent his entire career with the Bolts. He arrived as a fifth rounder in the 2019 NFL Draft. But Stick carried an astonishing 49-3 record at North Dakota State into the league. Stick spent his time backing up Justin Herbert. However, he emerged as a Chargers fan favorite during the preseason. Now he's adding depth behind QB1 Michael Penix Jr. — and signaling a Cousins trade is coming.

4/21/25 Reports: Suitors scoff at Falcons' asking price for Kirk Cousins. April 21 - Teams reaching out to the Atlanta Falcons about the availability of quarterback Kirk Cousins in trade talks have informed the front office their asking price is too high, ESPN reports. Atlanta reportedly has asked teams interested in a deal to absorb $20 million of the $45 million in guarantees Cousins has left on the four-year, $180 million contract he signed in March 2024. Falcons owner Arthur Blank, general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Raheem Morris have said the Falcons are fine holding onto Cousins as the backup to Michael Penix Jr. Blank said at the NFL annual meeting in Florida that he understands the situation and peripheral concern around paying a longtime starter
