5/14/24 3 early-season trades Diamondbacks must make. The 2024 season hasn't yet been very kind to the Arizona Diamondbacks, who had high hopes of defending their shocking National League pennant from a year ago. Unfortunately, the trade market can't get the Diamondbacks a healthy Eduardo Rodriguez or a return to All-Star form for Corbin Carroll, which is probably what they want most of all. It's now time to play the role of general manager Mike Hazen and make the moves that will shore up the D-Backs roster.

3/20/24 D-backs still evaluating Eduardo Rodriguez's lat injury. Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is still undergoing evaluations on Wednesday after he left a spring game the night prior with discomfort that the team labeled as left lat tightness. The D-backs still have not taken imaging of Rodriguez's throwing shoulder but still could decide to take that step, manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Wednesday. Lovullo added the team got Rodriguez to recreate the issue after pulling Rodriguez out of the game, but it was a “tiny bit of discomfort.” Arizona's medical staff was “encouraged” that the injury isn't significant, Lovullo added.

1/05/24 MLB rumors: Diamondbacks linked to Jorge Soler, J.D. Martinez as free agent markets heat up. The Arizona Diamondbacks are making moves this offseason to ensure they're not a one-hit wonder. The reigning National League champions signed Eduardo Rodriguez to bolster their starting rotation and brought back Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to keep the lineup as deep as it was last season. Arizona reportedly wants to make it deeper and has its sights set on a pair of All-Stars who could fit perfectly into the D-backs lineup as a designated hitter. Sluggers Jorge Soler and JD Martinez are both on Arizona's radar, according to Mark Feinsand.

12/14/23 Why Red Sox Reportedly Didn't Make Offer To Eduardo Rodriguez. Many questioned whether or not the Boston Red Sox could try to reunite with starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez this offseason. Boston's reasoning behind not making an offer didn't have much to do with the past successes or future potential of the 30-year-old, however. “It's worth noting that the Sox met with free agent lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez, a longtime pitcher in Boston, during the recent Winter Meetings in Nashville,” Speier wrote.

12/12/23 The Eduardo Rodriguez Acquisition. How does Eduardo Rodriguez compare to Lucas Giolito? The Diamondbacks signed free agent Eduardo Rodriguez. Let's look at whether his performance was better than Lucas Giolito, who is another starting pitcher that the Diamondbacks might have signed. Eduardo Rodriguez's metrics look better except for three of my preferred metrics (strikeouts per batter faced, whiffs per pitch, and balls-in-play per strike).

12/11/23 Rodriguez would earn $91 million over 5 seasons with option under deal with Diamondbacks. Eduardo Rodriguez would earn $91 million over five seasons if a 2028 option is triggered in his contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, an amount that could increase to $92 million based on innings. Rodriguez's deal, announced Friday, calls for salaries of $14 million next year, $20 million in 2025, $21 million in 2026 and $19 million in 2027. There is an option for 2028 that would be guaranteed at $17 million if he has 150 innings in 2027 or 300 in 2026 and '27 combined, or at $18 million if he has 175 innings in 2027 or 350 in 2026 and '27 combined.
