5/14/24 San Francisco Giants Veteran Ties Record With Extraordinary Homer. The San Francisco Giants had one of their best wins of the season on Sunday, walking off the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 to claim the rubber match of their three-game series. Fresh off a 5-1 victory on Saturday, the Giants immediately fell into a 3-0 hole during Sunday's series finale at Oracle Park. Jeimer Candelario cleared the bases with a three-run double off rookie Kyle Harrison in the top of the first, giving Frankie Montas a 3-0 cushion to work with. Tyler Fitzgerald started the Giants' rally with a one-out double, and Matt Chapman promptly singled him home.

5/13/24 Giants place Jung Hoo Lee on injured list with a dislocated left shoulder. The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Jung Hoo Lee on the 10-day injured list with a dislocated left shoulder and are still awaiting word on the severity of the injury. Lee hurt his shoulder in the first inning on Sunday when it hit the right-center field wall as he leaped to try to make a catch on a drive by Cincinnati's Jeimer Candelario. Lee underwent an MRI on Monday and was set to meet with team doctors later in the day to determine the next steps of his recovery.

5/12/24 Jung Hoo Lee leaves injured in 1st inning as SF Giants can't catch a break. Injuries can come in bunches, as Giants manager Bob Melvin lamented Sunday morning. Not even an hour had passed since one Giants outfielder was placed on the injured list when another, Jung Hoo Lee, was forced to leave their Sunday matinee against the Reds in the top of the first inning with what appeared to be a significant injury to his left arm. Only making his return to the starting lineup after missing the past three games with a bruised foot, Lee leaped into the center field wall while giving chase to a fly ball from Jeimer Candelario. Lee's left arm appeared to get jammed into the wall, and that is where he motioned to head trainer Dave Groeschner, who raced from the dugout to his side along with interpreter Justin Han and Melvin.

5/10/24 Bright Spot: Jeimer Candelario Heating Up For Cincinnati Reds. The Cincinnati Reds big offseason acquisition has had a slow start to the season, but Jeimer Candelario has finally begun to breakout. On April 29, Candelario had just his third multi-hit game of the season. In the eight games since, he has started to heat up. He has 11 hits, including two homers and two doubles, while striking out just four times. Candelario has raised his batting average 57 points during this timeframe and now sports a 96 OPS+ which is only slightly below average. Considering where he was just a few weeks ago, when he was considered an automatic out, this is a huge jump. The designation of “slow starter” has been applied to Candelario, but it would appear to be quite accurate.

1/31/24 Third base was Tigers' worst position in 2023. Who will man the hot corner this year?. With the benefit of hindsight, declining to bring back Jeimer Candelario was one of the biggest blunders of Scott Harris' young tenure as president of the Detroit Tigers. After being non-tendered by the Tigers, Candelario went on to have a strong season for the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs, which he parlayed into $45 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds. The Tigers, meanwhile, were atrocious offensively and defensively at third base in 2023.
