5/14/24 Francisco Lindor: Mets must 'stick together' following Tuesday's shutout loss to Phillies. A day after the Mets’ let a two-run lead slip away in the ninth inning, Aaron Nola made sure the Philadelphia Phillies would need no such comeback effort on Tuesday afternoon. Nola spun a gem, allowing just four hits as the Mets fell 4-0.

The Philadelphia Phillies (28-13) will visit the New York Mets (19-20), Tuesday at 1:10 PM ET, in a clash of NL East rivals. The Phillies are favored (-135 on the moneyline) when they take on the Mets (+114). The starting pitchers are Aaron Nola (4-2) for the Philadelphia Phillies, and Jose Butto (1-2) for the New York Mets. The Phillies' matchup Tuesday versus the Marlins resulted in a 7-6 loss.

5/12/24 Two Start Cookie Shop: May 13-29.

For maybe the first time this season, there’s actually a nice selection of quality at the top of the weekly two start pitchers. Aaron Nola is volatile enough that it might not make you feel quite as warm and cozy as you’d like when you set your lineup, but such is life. Please, blog, may I have some more?

5/09/24 Phillies Notebook: Nola says he's 'battling out there' with his fastball location. Despite the appearance of a good start to the season, Phillies second starter Aaron Nola admitted Wednesday he's “battling” to right himself. Nola (4-2, 3.67 ERA) was outdueled by Toronto's Chris Bassitt in a 5-3 Phillies loss to the Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park. As has been the case frequently through Nola's career, what was looking like a quality start fell apart somewhat in the sixth inning. Toronto's Vlad Guerrero Jr. began it with a swinging bunt single up the third base line.

5/08/24 Phillies Favored to Finish Off Another Series Sweep at Home. Life is good as a Philadelphia Phillies fan. The Phils can't stop winning and are once again favored at -170 to win on Wednesday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays. Aaron Nola holds the edge in the pitching matchup against Chris Bassitt, who has not had the best start to the season. All of the Phillies' left-handed hitters should be considered for player props because the abnormally high numbers against lefties from Toronto's Wednesday starter.

5/07/24 Philadelphia Phillies vs. Toronto Blue Jays odds, tips and betting trends. At Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Phillies (six consecutive victories) meet the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 PM ET. The Phillies are favored at home (-155) against the Blue Jays (+130). The Phillies will start Aaron Nola (4-1) versus the Blue Jays and Chris Bassitt (2-5). The Phillies were vicotrious 6-1 over the Giants Wednesday in their last game.

5/03/24 Phillies (-162) Favored with Aaron Nola on Mound for Series Opener Against Giants. It's time to get it back to the 10-games-over-.500, most-wins-in-baseball Philadelphia Phillies. The Phils are back home on Friday for the first time since April 21ST, are favored over the San Francisco Giants, and have Aaron Nola on the bump. The Phils come into Friday with a six-game home winning streak and a 13-3 record in their last sixteen, but they are only -162 on the money line against an average Giants team. Nola opposes reliever-turned-starter Jordan Hicks, who allowed 21 hits and just six earned runs in 34 innings this season.

5/01/24 Bass: Why he would never tell Aaron Nola – or your kid – to chase velocity. Pitching too much, practicing with a weighted ball and chasing velocity can be hazardous to your health.

4/28/24 Phillies' Taijuan Walker to make season debut vs. struggling Padres. The veteran right-hander gets his first start of the year Sunday for the Philadelphia Phillies as they try to complete a road sweep of the San Diego Padres. Walker joins a rotation that has been as good as any in baseball during the season's first month. Aaron Nola and Ranger Suarez have keyed 9-3 and 5-1 wins in the series' first two games with eight-inning outings, continuing a trend that has helped Philadelphia start 18-10 and post a National League-low staff earned run average of 3.26.

4/26/24 Slug-happy Phillies pound Padres to start their weekend off right. You can't begin a weekend much better than the Phillies did in San Diego with a slew of loud extra-base hits, standout defense and another strong performance from Aaron Nola.

4/26/24 Back a high-scoring game between the Phillies and Padres in Friday's series opener. A pair of big-name starting pitchers will take the mound on Friday night in San Diego as Aaron Nola and the Phillies hit the road to face Joe Musgrove and the Padres. In fact, I'm fading the pitching and targeting the over on total runs scored. The Phillies got off to a slow start on offense this season, but they have hit the ball well over the past few weeks and have a favorable matchup here.

4/25/24 Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres odds, tips and betting trends. On Friday, a series opener is on the schedule, with the Philadelphia Phillies (16-10) visiting the San Diego Padres (14-14) at 9:40 PM ET. Oddsmakers project the Phillies as a small favorite (-114 moneyline odds to win) against the Padres (-105). The Phillies will give the ball to Aaron Nola (3-1) against the Padres and Joe Musgrove (3-2). The Phillies were vicotrious 5-0 over the Reds yesterday in their most recent game.

4/22/24 Sizzling Phillies finish homestand 8-2 with sweeps of White Sox, Rockies. Yes, the Phillies spent the last two seasons piling up wins late in the year and ended each of the last two seasons with deep runs in the postseason. The Phillies are off to one of their best starts in years in large part because they beat-up on some of the worst teams in baseball. Behind eight strong innings from Aaron Nola, the Phillies capped an 8-2 homestand with an 8-2 win Sunday over the Chicago White Sox. More than that, they won the games at Citizens Bank Park they were supposed to win — they split two games with the Pirates, then had consecutive three-game sweeps against the Colorado Rockies and the White Sox.

4/16/24 Imagine if the Phillies' Offense was Even Half as Good as the Pitching Right Now. Aaron Nola looked great, giving up just four hits and one run in a little more than seven full innings of work. If you want to take it a step further, only the Red Sox and Royals have a better collective ERA among their starters. The Phillies have gotten 94.2 innings out of their rotation, which is 5th in MLB and a good indicator of how they're able to consistently give you 5-6+ innings on a regular basis.

4/15/24 Phillies walk-off Rockies 2-1 as Colorado drops series opener, first extra-innings game of 2024. The Rockies found misery again in their first extra-inning game of the season. Philadelphia walked off Colorado, 2-1, in the series opener at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night, dropping the Rockies to 4-13 on the year. The Rockies couldn't solve ace Aaron Nola, and then came up short in a pair of opportunities to score in the ninth and 10th innings before Cristian Pache's single lifted Philadelphia to the victory.

4/10/24 Phillies hope to bounce back vs. Cards behind Aaron Nola. After struggling during his first start of the season, Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola made significant progress in his second outing. The Phillies defeated the Cardinals 5-3 in 10 innings Monday, and St. Louis answered by blanking Philadelphia 3-0 on Tuesday. Nola (1-1, 5.40 ERA) allowed seven runs, six earned, in 4 1/3 innings during a 12-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves on March 30.

4/08/24 Phillies absolutely refuse to change. If you liked the 2023 Phillies, then you are going to love the 2024 Phillies. The biggest moves made by team president Dave Dombrowski was to sign Aaron Nola to a seven-year contract and ink Zack Wheeler to a four-year contract extension. Smaller moves like Whit Merrifield, Spencer Turnbull and others will likely have some kind of impact this year, but the everyday lineup, the majority of the bullpen and the starting rotation are all the same.

4/06/24 Phillies return to winning ways with second straight victory over the Washington Nationals. After two tough series at home against the Braves and the Reds, the Phillies needed a reset. The Washington Nationals provided one in the first two games of their three-game set. The Phillies still haven't played their best baseball, but after Saturday's 5-2 win against the Nationals, they have their first winning streak of the season and a .500 record. On Friday, it was Aaron Nola and the bullpen delivering a two-hit shutout.
