4/01/24 Rangers return to Tampa Bay, where they began '22 title run. The last time the Texas Rangers came to Florida, they swept two games against the Tampa Bay Rays in an American League wild-card series en route to winning the World Series. In October, the Rangers arrived at the Rays' domed home and dominated the best-of-three series, prevailing 4-0 and 7-1 to start their run to the franchise's first world title. The Rangers went 11-0 on the road in the postseason -- a stat engraved on their World Series rings, which also included the flight paths to the cities they won playoff games in. After Texas captured the first two games of the 2024 season at home against the Cubs, Rangers reliever Jose Leclerc walked in the winning run in the ninth inning Sunday as Chicago scored four times with two outs to emerge with a 9-5 victory.

10/17/23 He was 16 when he signed with the Rangers. 13 years later, he's saving their postseason.. Jose Leclerc was 16 when he signed with the Texas Rangers in 2010. Thirteen years later, he's getting his chance to save Texas' postseason. Leclerc notched a dicey four-out save against the Astros in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Monday, clinching a 5-4 win and staving off a Houston rally. It was Leclerc's third save of the postseason and seventh appearance; he has finished all seven of the Rangers' playoff games, all seven of which have been wins.

10/14/23 'Ready to go' | Scherzer could make rotation an ALCS strength for Rangers. Rosters don't officially have to be set for the American League Championship Series until 10 a.m. CT on Sunday, the day of Game 1. The big question mark surrounding the Texas Rangers right now isn't the lineup, as the offense is as locked in as it's going to get. Not only has Jose Leclerc been the anchor Texas so desperately needs, but the rest of the bullpen has allowed a total of four runs in five postseason games. The big question for Texas is the rotation and if Max Scherzer can complete a miraculous recovery to be added to a pitching staff that has largely carried this Rangers team through two sweeps of the AL East's biggest and baddest in the playoffs.

7/21/23 58-40 - Back and forth game quickly gets away from Rangers in 11-5 loss. There are several nebulous, auxiliary things that you could point to as reasons for tonight's streak-snapping loss for the Rangers. The main actual surface level reason is that the Dodgers are really good and have a lineup that can wear you out, which it did to Texas tonight. Perhaps instead it was that Jose Leclerc couldn't get through the 6th inning without allowing the Dodgers to turn over that lineup by allowing three bases runners against the bottom of the order? Did losing the lead mean the dugout decision makers didn't want to waste a Chapman/Will Smith bullet in a game the Rangers were trailing which allowed the contest to snowball when Grant Anderson was once again called on to be the late-innings, high leverage reliever that he doesn't appear to be suited for?

8/13/22 Julio Rodriguez returns to lineup, Mariners beat Rangers.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Star rookie Julio Rodriguez got two hits in his return to the Seattle lineup and the Mariners took over the first wild-card position in the American League by beating the Texas Rangers 6-2 on Friday night.

The 21-year-old Rodriguez, who put on an impressive show in the All-Star Home Run Derby, had missed the Mariners’ previous 11 games with a wrist injury.

“I just felt good,” Rodriguez said. “I just went out there and competed. I wasn’t worried about anything.”

Rodriguez also sent 400-foot shot nearly over the left-field foul pole in the sixth that was ruled foul, even after a Seattle challenge.

“I thought it went over,” Rodriguez said. “They should put (the pole) higher.”

George Kirby (4-3) allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk. It was the rookie’s second straight win.

The victory, combined with Toronto’s loss to Cleveland, gave the Mariners a half-game lead over the Blue Jays.

The Mariners are a season-best 10 games over .500 and are 12-2 with nine consecutive wins this season against the Rangers, who dropped to a season-low 14 games under .500.

Seattle took a 4-2 lead into the ninth inning and Eugenio Suarez added a two-run double.

The Rangers scored on Marcus Semien’s groundout in the third and Jonah Heim’s single in the sixth.
