12/29/23 What the Angels bullpen would look like if the season started today. The Los Angeles Angels had one of the worst bullpens in baseball this past season. The Halos did have some bright spots in their 'pen like the first half of Carlos Estevez, the entire season of Matt Moore, and Jose Soriano breaking out, but there wasn't much else to like. The bullpen was an area the Angels would have to improve greatly for the team to be better in 2024. While they've addressed the bullpen with three signings, the additions they've made are all gambles rather than arms they can really rely on.

10/27/23 Potential Angels free agent target re-signs with Braves. The Los Angeles Angels' bullpen had its ups and downs in 2023. There were some bright spots like Carlos Estevez's first half, Matt Moore's five months with the club, and the emergence of young relievers like Ben Joyce, Jose Soriano, and Sam Bachman. With the good came a lot of bad, like Ryan Tepera who was DFA'd early, or Aaron Loup who was just awful, and Carlos Estevez's second half. Overall, the Angels bullpen was right around where you'd expect, ranking 25th with a 4.88 ERA.

7/26/23 Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak makes disastrous play at worst time. That's not how the Los Angeles Angels wanted their ninth inning to go. The Angels led the Detroit Tigers by two runs with two on and two outs in the ninth inning Tuesday night when closer Carlos Estevez induced a long fly ball to center from Spencer Torkelson that looked like it would end the game. But Angels center fielder Mickey Moniak did his best impersonation of a little leaguerr, losing track of the ball before it bounced in front of him and ultimately over the wall for a game-tying ground-rule double that tied the game in one of the more embarrassing ways possible. 7/08/23 Carlos Estevez finally gets the all-star nod he should've gotten initially. The Los Angeles Angels might be downspiraling as they've lost eight of their last nine and are down to a .500 record on the season, but there was some good news that came before their latest loss to the Dodgers. Carlos Estevez, arguably the biggest all-star snub in the American League has been named a replacement for Emmanuel Clase on the AL roster. After an extremely rough Spring Training, Estevez has been absolutely dominant out of the bullpen for the Angels from the moment the games started to matter.

On the year, the Angels closer has been lights out, sporting a 1.85 ERA with 21 saves in 35 appearances.

His best year came in 2019 when he suited up in 71 games and posted a 3.75 ERA. Carlos Estevez and Jose Quijada began the season sharing the closing duties. The 6-foot-6, 277-pound Estevez has thrived as a closer in his first year with the Angels, going 12-for-12 in save opportunities.

5/14/23 LA Angels rumors: 5 relief pitcher trade targets to already start thinking about. The Los Angeles Angels are a team trying to win right now. One area of concern for the Angels is the bullpen. Carlos Estevez and Matt Moore are great, but as we saw last night, the Angels don't have another reliever they can really trust in high-leverage spots. Here're five names from the worst division in baseball, the AL Central, that they should keep an eye on.

5/11/23 LA Angels add much-needed bullpen depth with Reyes Moronta signing. The Los Angeles Angels bullpen has been surprisingly excellent through the first six weeks of the season. The bullpen is being led by Carlos Estevez and Matt Moore, both of who have been excellent late in games. The rest of the bullpen, however, has a lot to be desired. Just in the last couple of weeks, the Angels lost both Jose Quijada and Austin Warren for the season.

12/08/22 Hoornstra: Baseball's Winter Meetings produced more winners than losers. What the Yankees do the rest of this offseason matters – they’ve won the World Series only once this century, after all – but they can do so without the burden of having to replace the most productive season by a position player since Barry Bonds’ peak. Perry Minasian The Angels’ general manager left San Diego with a potential closer, Carlos Estevez, but Minasian did his best work before the Winter Meetings began.
