5/14/24 Padres' Dylan Cease faces Rockies, winners of 5 in a row. As he watched Dylan Cease strike out one helpless Chicago Cubs hitter after another last week, San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. came to a realization. "When you see that, you're just grateful he's on your team," Tatis Jr. said. Cease will try to keep up his dominant early-season form Tuesday night when San Diego hosts the suddenly hot Colorado Rockies in the middle contest of the teams' three-game series. The big right-hander is coming off an overpowering outing last Wednesday, striking out 12 and allowing one infield single in seven innings during a 3-0 win at Wrigley Field.

5/13/24 Padres Starters Create History More Than 100 Years in the Making. The San Diego Padres enter the new week coming off an impressive series win over the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, taking two of three games at home. For the most part, the Padres pitching staff shut down the dominant Los Angeles offense and they created some history with the performances. Including the outing from right-hander Dylan Cease against the Chicago Cubs on May 8 and the Padres' starters this past weekend, the team became the first squad since 1893 to have four straight starts of at least five innings while allowing two or fewer hits. Cease started it for San Diego, Micheal King did his part on May 10, Matt Waldron on May 11, and Yu Darvish on May 12.

5/07/24 Dylan Cease admits his final season with the White Sox ‘wasn't enjoyable in any way'. Dylan Cease returned to Chicago for the first time since being traded to the Padres before the start of the season, as he geared up for a three-game series at Wrigley Field against the Cubs. Technically for Cease, it’s a return to his former team — the one who initially drafted him in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB...

5/07/24 ‘Wasn’t enjoyable’: Dylan Cease, back in Chicago with Padres, reflects on final season of White Sox tenure. CHICAGO (AP) — Dylan Cease is back in Chicago this week. And he’s apparently much happier than the last time he was here. Cease, who spent his first five major-league seasons with the White Sox after being drafted by the Cubs out of high school, said his final season with the South Siders “wasn’t enjoyable […]

5/07/24 Dylan Cease says last year with White Sox 'wasn't enjoyable in really any way'. Dylan Cease says his final season with the Chicago White Sox “wasn’t enjoyable in really any way.” The ace right-hander had a tough year, and the team struggled. He’s having a much better time with the San Diego Padres. Cease is back in Chicago this week for a three-game series against the Cubs. The Padres also play the White Sox this season, but the three-game set is at San Diego in September. Cease was traded from the White Sox to the Padres in March. He says he feels as though the White Sox had talent, but the team just wasn't able to put it together.

5/04/24 White Sox should be open to all trades, including Luis Robert Jr. and Garrett Crochet. Dylan Cease was traded for prospects in March, but general manager Chris Getz stopped right there. Center fielder Luis Robert Jr. was a different story, a media guide coverboy, budding superstar, 26-year-old face of the franchise. Robert was not put up for auction in the first offseason of Getz' rebuilding effort. The thinking goes like this: While the Sox' Double-A Birmingham roster is stocked with prospects, the Triple-A Charlotte roster, aside from a few, is thin.

5/04/24 How does the Diamondbacks' offense compare to others after loss to Padres?. Early last week, the Diamondbacks hung 14 runs on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, hammering out 15 hits, seven of them for extra bases. It must be mentioned that the Diamondbacks were facing Padres right-hander Dylan Cease, possessor of high-velocity, high-spin fastball and a slider that is not too far removed from rating as baseball's most dominant pitch. It should also be noted the Diamondbacks have faced other very good starting pitchers during this stretch, including Mariners right-handers George Kirby and Logan Webb and Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

4/27/24 San Diego Padres flummoxed by Phillies again at Petco Park. For whatever reason the Phillies just have the Padres number, especially when they're playing in the East Village. Since the jewel of a ballpark opened in 2004 Philadelphia has made it their west coast vacation home, going 47-22 at Petco Park (including the 2022 NLCS). Not even Dylan Cease, who entered the game on one of the best stretches of his career, could make a difference. It was a sign that this was not going to be the Padres night.

4/24/24 Rockies face Padres, look for 2024 first: back-to-back wins. Colorado's offense broke out in Tuesday night's 7-4 win over the Padres, snapping a six-game losing streak to San Diego. The Padres took the series opener 3-1 on Monday behind a strong outing from Dylan Cease, who allowed just one hit over seven innings. The Padres will send right-hander Matt Waldron (0-2, 4.74 ERA) to the mound while the Rockies had not announced a starter as of Wednesday morning. Tuesday was a rare win for Colorado, which had lost 10 of 12 entering the game.

4/23/24 Padres' Dylan Cease pulls off dominant Coors Field first. Pitching at Coors Field in Colorado is never an easy task given its high elevation. Dylan Cease did not seem to mind, though, as the San Diego Padres star made Coors Field history on Monday. “Dylan Cease is the first pitcher in Coors Field history to complete at least seven innings, allow one or no hits, and issue zero walks,” Dennis Lin of The Athletic wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Of course, being able to throw 98 MPH to go along with a nasty slider is something that Coors Field can not even deter.

4/23/24 Cease allows 1 hit over 7 innings to pitch Padres past scuffling Rockies 3-1 at Coors Field. Dylan Cease permitted one hit in seven dominant innings and pinch-hitter Tyler Wade singled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth, sending the San Diego Padres to a 3-1 victory over the struggling Colorado Rockies. Cease struck out eight and walked none, allowing only one baserunner in a 90-pitch outing. Acquired from the Chicago White Sox in a March 13 trade, the right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.82. Luis Campusano had two hits for the Padres and scored the go-ahead run. With runners at the corners in the ninth, Robert Suarez got Ryan McMahon to ground into a game-ending double play for his eighth save. Colorado lost for the eighth time in nine games and dropped to 5-18, the worst record in the National League.
