5/16/24 Gomber and Beck lead Rockies past Padres 8-0 for 3-game sweep and 7-game win streak. Austin Gomber allowed two hits in six innings, Brenton Doyle and Jordan Beck homered and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 8-0 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep with their seventh straight victory. It is Colorado's longest winning streak since an eight-game run that ended in June 2019. Gomber (1-2) struck out five and walked two before three relievers finished a four-hitter. It was the first time Colorado (15-28), which has won six road games all season, swept a three-game set in San Diego since 2013.

5/15/24 Rockies win seventh straight, sweep Padres, behind starring turns by Austin Gomber, Jordan Beck. Thirteen months ago, Rockies lefty Austin Gomber was lost. On Wednesday afternoon at Petco Park, he blanked the Padres for six innings as the Rockies rolled to an 8-0 victory, their seventh consecutive win. The Rockies, riding their longest winning streak since 2019, swept the Padres for the first time in a three-game series in San Diego since April 12-14, 2013. Gomber received oodles of support, especially from rookie left fielder Jordan Beck, who broke out in a big way.

5/08/24 Colorado Rockies need even more exciting pitching on the farm. The Colorado Rockies have sludged their way to an 8-27 start to the 2024 MLB season with nearly nothing going well. For those inclined to diagnose the biggest issues, you'll find an offense striking out an exorbitant amount, an apparent allergy to getting the key hit, and a bullpen in shambles. The Rockies have two starters above the league average with Austin Gomber (123 ERA+) and Cal Quantrill (108) while the younger Ryan Feltner (84) and Peter Lambert (83) both have shown growth and promise. Dakota Hudson has been disappointing as was Kyle Freeland before he got hurt but especially over the last several weeks, again when compared to the rest of the team, the rotation has arguably been a strength.

4/22/24 Rockies hope warmer weather heats up bats vs. Padres. The Colorado Rockies endured snow and cold in their unusual weekend of home baseball, and now face a familiar opponent with warmer weather in the forecast in Denver. A snowstorm that hit Colorado caused the postponement of Friday night's game against the Seattle Mariners, which forced the teams to play a split doubleheader on Sunday -- a day after playing Saturday night with temperatures in the low 30s. The Rockies won Sunday's first game, 2-1 in 10 innings, and had a chance to secure their first series victory of the year but dropped the nightcap 10-2. Colorado lefty Austin Gomber (0-1, 4.95 ERA) will take the mound against San Diego right-hander Dylan Cease (2-1, 1.99) to kick off the series.
