The Los Angeles Dodgers face a roster crunch and already had to designate Bryan Hudson for assignment before trading him to the Milwaukee Brewers. Although it's a good problem to have, the Dodgers have been faced with some tough decisions on who to remove from their 40-man roster. With Teoscar Hernández set to join the team, another 40-man spot was needed with no obvious options available on who to waive.

Bryan Hudson was the roster casualty for the Dodgers signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto, whose 12-year, $325 million contract was finalized on December 27. Hudson was designated for assignment on that day to make room on the 40-man roster, then one week later was traded to the Brewers. The Dodgers on January 3 acquired minor league left-hander Justin Chambers plus a player to be named later or cash from Milwaukee in the deal. Hudson was a third-round pick of the Cubs in 2015, and after eight seasons in Chicago's minor leagues signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers last offseason.

1/04/24 Brewers Make Trade With Dodgers. MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers swung a trade yesterday. The Athletic reports Milwaukee acquired Bryan Hudson from the Dodgers in exchange for Justin Chambers. The 27-year-old allowed seven earned runs in just under nine innings pitched last season. He spent most of the year in Triple-A where he tallied a 2.43 ERA over 55-plus innings.

Eight years after he was drafted, sidearm left-hander Bryan Hudson made his major league debut in 2023 after signing a minor league deal with the Dodgers. Hudson was picked in the third round out of high school by the Cubs in 2015. The 6'8 left-hander never reached the majors with the Cubs, and signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers in December 2022 with a non-roster invitation to spring training. The left-hander excelled in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League in 2023, and by mid-June had a 2.17 ERA with 51 strikeouts and a 41.1-percent strikeout rate in 29 innings for Oklahoma City.

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Victor González from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Bryan Hudson ahead of their series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. González returns for his third stint with the Dodgers where he has pitched to a 2-3 record with a 5.32 ERA IN 23.2 innings with 22 strikeouts. The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Bryan Hudson from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned Gavin Stone prior to Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Stone heads to OKC one day after pitching two innings out of the bullpen. He joined the Dodgers roster on Monday as the corresponding move to Victor González getting optioned . Although Stone is developing as a starter, the Dodgers planed to utilize him as a long reliever during the final week before the All-Star break. ALTON - Bryan Hudson, a superstar high school pitcher and now in the Chicago Cubs Minor League organization, was recently inducted into the Alton High School Sports Hall Of Fame. Hudson was a pitcher on the Redbird teams from 2012-2015 and was dominant on the mound, winning a total of 25 varsity games in his four years on the club, going 10-2 in his senior season with a 0.50 ERA, striking out 152 batters while walking only 29.
