5/13/24 White Sox hoping to have Luis Robert Jr. at game speed by weekend. Luis Robert Jr. is expected to play games at the White Sox complex in Glendale, Ariz., at the end of the week as he inches closer to a return from a hip flexor strain that sidelined after seven games. The All-Star center fielder's next step after the backfield games will be a minor league rehab assignment, likely at Triple-A Charlotte. “We're going to try to push him upwards to 90% here shortly and hopefully get him into some games in Arizona later in the week and see how he responds,” manager Pedro Grifol said before the Sox' scheduled game against the Nationals Monday was rained out.

5/09/24 ‘He’s frustrated’: Luis Robert Jr. has minor setback, getting closer to rehab games, Grifol says. CHICAGO — When it’s rained, it’s poured for the Chicago White Sox this season, and another one of those May showers came in the form of all-star center fielder Luis Robert Jr experiencing a setback during his ongoing rehab from a right hip flexor strain this week, according to White Sox manager Pedro Grifol Thursday. 5/08/24 'Little setback' taps brakes on Luis Robert Jr.'s timeline for return to White Sox. Luis Robert Jr. had been trending toward getting back on the field soon as he works toward a return from the Grade 2 right hip flexor strain suffered April 5, but the All-Star center fielder had what manager Pedro Grifol called “a little setback” in his recovery process and will continue to be monitored before he begins playing in games at the Sox' complex in Arizona. “He was a little hesitant early in the week,” said general manager Chris Getz, who is with the team in St. Petersburg. “He feels pretty good, so we're going to monitor that, no one is too concerned with it, we still feel like he's going to get into game action relatively soon, get some at-bats at Arizona and join an affiliate at some point.” Two weeks ago, Getz gave an encouraging report on Robert, saying he could be back as early as mid-May. Without offering a specific timeline Wednesday, Getz said “we're not too concerned, but we want to make sure he's fully healthy before we get him in any game action.”

5/02/24 White Sox roster could get even thinner as season winds down. If you think the White Sox roster looks thin now, wait till August and September. Not exactly oozing players contending teams would find useful for postseason pushes, the 6-25 team that begins a six-game road trip in St. Louis Friday could be even less equipped to win games after the July 30 trade deadline. The Sox are not contending this season and likely won't next season, and should be looking to trade what assets they have to bolster a farm system that recently climbed to 18th in the majors per MLB Pipeline. Unless they dangle All-Star center fielder Luis Robert Jr., potential staff ace left-hander Garrett Crochet and back-end reliever Michael Kopech, who have three, two and one years of contract control remaining, respectively – and a case could be made they should -- the Sox' best trade chip right now looks like right-hander Erick Fedde, who is on the first year of a two-year, $15 million deal.

4/14/24 If only the White Sox had what the Reds have, instead of having … nothing. You know what's sad about baseball at Guaranteed Rate Field these days? At least the smattering of fans in attendance Sunday had the decency to wait until the third inning to begin half-heartedly booing the White Sox. Unless, that is, the 2-13 Sox' core of “stars” — Luis Robert Jr., Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez — refuses to let this team go down without a fight. You know, we know and every desperately lonely vendor from the 100 level to the upper deck knows that's not going to happen, mainly because the three Sox mentioned above are, as always, drowning in injuries.

4/12/24 Chicago baseball report: Adbert Alzolay’ bounce-back outing for Cubs — and Michael Kopech leaves White Sox teammates speechless. The Chicago Cubs should have kicked off their nine-game West Coast trip with a series win in San Diego, yet Monday’s awful loss instead sent them into Thursday’s off day looking to regroup after dropping two of three games. The White Sox return home after a trip where they not only lost six of seven, but also saw center fielder Luis Robert Jr. and third baseman Yoán Moncada suffer injuries. ...

4/11/24 The next Chicago Cubs closer may be on the Chicago White Sox. The early struggles of the Chicago Cubs bullpen have already left many fans emphatic that the Cubs must not wait to make an impact trade in order to add an effective high-leverage relief pitcher to their pitching staff. It's very rare that an impact trade is made during the first month of the season given the fact that many teams do not begin getting a sniff of whether or not they will be selling at the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline until Memorial Day at the end of May. There are exceptions and this season, the Chicago White Sox would be one of them. The White Sox entered the 2024 season with a minor-league roster with the exception of All-Star center fielder Luis Robert Jr, designated hitter Eloy Jimenez, and third baseman Yoan Moncada.

4/10/24 Grifol, White Sox carry on after nightmarish start. “It's a beautiful day, we're alive, we're breathing, we're in the big leagues,” Grifol said. The Sox entered Wednesday's game against the Guardians with a 2-9 record, and in 11 days, Grifol lost Luis Robert Jr. for at least six weeks with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain and Eloy Jimenez with a left adductor strain.

4/04/24 White Sox look to rev up offense in series opener vs. Royals. Close contests have been the theme for the Chicago White Sox this season, with all but one of their five games decided by a single run. Those contests include Tuesday's 3-2 win over Atlanta, an outcome that snapped Chicago's four-game losing streak to start the season. Fresh off of being rained out on Wednesday, the White Sox will start a four-game series against the Royals looking for another victory Thursday night when the teams meet in Kansas City, Mo. Chicago has struggled to ignite its offense — the White Sox's .181 batting average and 11 runs rank second-to-last in the majors. Luis Robert Jr. leads the club with five hits and four RBIs, and Robert and Paul DeJong each have two of the team's

2/21/24 ‘He’s got a lot more’: Grifol, Pillar see potential for greatness in Luis Robert Jr.. GLENDALE, Ariz. — While the Chicago White Sox have plenty of questions surrounding several positions out on the diamond heading into the 2024 Major League Baseball season, center field is not one of them, and the sky’s set to be the limit for Luis Robert Jr. this year. “I’ve had a few players in my […]
