4/28/24	Tanner Houck continues ace-level game of catch and Red Sox shake off late lapse to walk off as winners. It's becoming hard to explain what Houck is accomplishing on the hill. On Sunday night against the Cubs, under the Fenway Park lights, Houck played yet another game of catch in the Red Sox' 5-4 walkoff win that secured a series victory. Houck's exceptional outing, though, almost fell in the backdrop of defeat. The Sox had the contest and a series win in their grasp, only for it to be spoiled by Mike Tauchman's three-run homer in the eighth inning that tied the score at four apiece. After all, it was Tauchman's game-winning catch against the St. Louis Cardinals the Friday before the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline that convinced Cubs' president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer that the team should be buyers. Mike Tauchman hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and Jameson Taillon retired his final 16 batters to win his fourth straight start as the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets 3-2. Cody Bellinger also went deep and Yan Gomes had an RBI double for the surging Cubs, who won for the 16th time in 21 games.
