9/09/10Ramirez missed his third straight game yesterday with a sore right quad. He is day-to-day.
6/25/10Cubs activated Ramirez from the 15-day disabled list.
6/23/10Aramis Ramirez was back with the Cubs on Tuesday, but he's going to have to wait a few more days before he takes the field in a game. The Cubs' third baseman, who is coming back from a left thumb contusion that's had him on the disabled list since June 9, went 1-for-6 in two games with Class A Peoria and took batting practice with the team at Safeco Field before Tuesday's game against the Mariners. Manager Lou Piniella said the team will wait two days to activate Ramirez and put him back in the lineup Friday against the White Sox.
6/19/10Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez will test his left thumb this weekend, playing with Class A Peoria on Saturday and Sunday, and could be back in the lineup next week. He's been on the disabled list since June 8 because of a sprained left thumb and has taken batting practice every day this week.
6/10/10Aramis Ramirez admitted he wasn't helping the Cubs by trying to play with a bruised left thumb and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, and manager Lou Piniella wants guys who can play. The Cubs recalled infielder Chad Tracy from Triple-A Iowa and placed Ramirez on the DL, retroactive to Tuesday.
6/09/10 Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez did not start on Tuesday for the second straight game, and he may be headed to the disabled list. It might be the best thing for him and the Cubs. Ramirez was batting .168 overall and has been bothered by a sore left thumb. He's also hitting just .125 on the road, another reason for him to sit.
5/28/10Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez hoped to hit against coaches on Friday and may be available this weekend. Ramirez has been sidelined with a sprained left thumb and received a cortisone shot to alleviate some of the discomfort.
5/24/10X-rays of Aramis Ramirez's left hand were negative Sunday, but the Cubs' third baseman will sit for the next few days to give him time to heal and also a chance to work on his hitting.
5/22/10Aramis Ramirez did not start Friday to rest a sore left thumb that the Cubs third baseman says has bothered him for some time.
4/24/10The Cubs gave the slumping Ramirez the day off on Friday to work with the team's hitting coach. "He's been such a good hitter in the past," Jaramillo said Friday. "Right now, it's just a timing issue. He's just late. When you're late, that comes from maybe trying too hard or trying to do too much."
3/24/10Lou Piniella may want Aramis Ramirez to get another 30 at-bats before Opening Day, but the Cubs' third baseman didn't look like he needed that many on Tuesday. Ramirez was the designated hitter against the Royals and went 2-for-3 in his first game since March 13. He singled in his first two at-bats, driving in a run in the fourth. He has been sidelined because of a sore right triceps muscle and is doing limited throwing. If all goes well, Ramirez will be starting at third on Friday. Piniella would like Ramirez to catch up to the others in terms of at-bats.
3/19/10Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez was scratched from Thursday's lineup because of soreness in his right triceps. Ramirez was originally to start for the first time since last Saturday but stayed back in Mesa to hit at the Cubs' facility. Manager Lou Piniella said if Ramirez can't play in the next day or so, he could get at-bats at the team's Minor League camp.
3/14/10 Aramis Ramirez left a spring game with right triceps soreness. “There’s nothing wrong,” Piniella said of Ramirez, who missed nearly two months last season with a separated left shoulder. “He’ll be ready in a couple of days.”
