4/16/24 Luke Raley starting to find his way, and his role, in first season with Mariners. In a sit-down conversation with Scott Servais the other day, Luke Raley got the clarity he was looking for, and some honest feedback from the Mariners manager. “Having that conversation and seeing things through his eyes, knowing what your role is on this team — the transparency is great,” Raley said. Smooth start, it was not, for Raley in his first weeks with the Mariners. Raley can do a little bit of everything, and that's why the Mariners acquired him in a trade with the Rays in January.

3/24/24 Just as opening day nears, Luke Raley starting to heat up for Mariners. After struggling at the plate to start spring training, Luke Raley's bat is heating up as opening day nears for the Mariners. He has hits in four of his past five games, including a triple and a bases-clearing double Sunday.

1/14/24 What They Said: Seattle Mariners OF Luke Raley on role and more. Luke Raley was hardly thinking about changing teams when he learned he had been traded to the Seattle Mariners. The 29-year-old outfielder and first baseman recently got married, and he was on the final day of his honeymoon playing pool volleyball when the Tampa Bay Rays dealt him to Seattle. “I get out of the pool to like 10 missed calls and a bunch of text messages,” Raley said on Tuesday's Mariners Hot Stove on Seattle Sports. The newest Mariners slugger spoke at length to M's broadcasters Aaron Goldsmith and Gary Hill about joining his new team, noting that he's already been in contact with two of the team's main coaches.

1/05/24 Rays acquire INF José Caballero from Mariners for OF Luke Raley. The Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners are completing a trade that will trade 29-year old, power hitting fifth outfielder Luke Raley for a desperately needed potential answer at shortstop for 2024 in 28-year old infielder Jose Caballero. Known for his speed and decision making on the basepaths, Caballero is a plus defender (with high marks from both DRS and OAA) who covered 21 games at shortstop for the Mariners in his rookie season, while getting the lions share of opportunities at second base across his 104 games played. The acquisition of Caballero should take pressure off the Rays to force Basabe into the majors to start the season, and could even lead to an open competition for shortstop alongside Taylor Walls — depending on his recovery timeline from offseason hip surgery — and prospect Osleivis Basabe, who finished 2023 as the team's primary 6.

9/21/23 Tampa Bay Rays call up top prospect Junior Caminero. With the Tampa Bay Rays just 1.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East title, the team is making a bold move calling up its best prospect Junior Caminero from Double-A Montgomery. ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report this news. This is an important addition considering Luke Raley and Brandon Lowe are banged up right now, on top of Jose Siri who is currently on the injured list.

9/15/23 Rays open series in Baltimore with 4-3 victory, pull within game of Orioles in AL East. Luke Raley hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning, and Tampa Bay’s remarkable bullpen retired everyone it faced in the Rays’ 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night in the opener of a huge series at Camden Yards. The Rays pulled within a game of first-place Baltimore in the AL East, and their relievers extended their streak to 34 innings without an earned run. Ryan O’Hearn and Gunnar Henderson homered for the Orioles, but with the game tied at 3, Raley hit a drive to center field off Kyle Bradish for his 19th home run of the year.

8/18/23 Rays hit into triple play before downing Angels in 10. Luke Raley had the tiebreaking RBI single in the 10th inning Friday night for the Tampa Bay Rays, who overcame hitting into a ninth-inning triple play to beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-6 in the opener of a condensed three-game series in Anaheim, Calif. The teams played hours after Major League Baseball announced the final two games of the series would be played as part of a split doubleheader Saturday due to the path of Hurricane Hilary. The Rays, who trailed 5-1 following Shohei Ohtani's second-inning grand slam, later squandered a seventh-inning lead before hitting into an unusual triple play in the ninth. Angels closer Carlos Estevez (5-4) gave up singles to Yandy Diaz and Randy Arozarena before getting Harold Ramirez to hit a hard grounder to short.
