5/01/24 Twins rally past White Sox for 10th straight victory. Yes, the Twins have taken advantage of a soft spot in their schedule — seven of those games came against the White Sox, a team that has won a major league-worst six games, and the other three came against the lowly Angels in Anaheim. It's taken contributions from everyone — and maybe some help from a lucky summer sausage that was tossed to Alex Kirilloff after his fifth-inning home run. The Twins trailed for much of the day after Bailey Ober gave up a pair of runs in the first inning.

4/24/24 Buxton, Kirilloff help Twins rally past White Sox 6-5. MLB-worst Chicago falls to 3-20. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alex Kirilloff hit a two-out, game-ending single after Byron Buxton led off the ninth inning with a tying homer, and the major league-worst Chicago White Sox fell to 3-20 with a 6-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night (April 23, 2024). Chicago joined Cincinnati in 2022, Detroit in 2003, the St. Louis Browns in 1936 and the Cleveland Spiders in 1899 as teams to start 3-20. The 1988 Baltimore Orioles began 1-22. “We've got to win games, man,” White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said. “Bottom line.” Trevor Larnach hit a 433-foot, two-run homer in the eighth to get the Twins within 5-4 and help set up the heroics by Buxton and Kirilloff against Steven Wilson (1-2). 4/06/24 Plenty of baserunners, little production as Twins fall to Guardians. The Twins were held to only two hits on Saturday. But it wasn't exactly a masterpiece by Guardians pitchers. No, the Twins inflicted this 3-1 loss at Target Field on themselves. Twins hitters drew seven walks, were hit by three pitches and received their now-daily triple from Alex Kirilloff. But all those opportunities were undone by their complete inability to drive runners home, while at ...

4/04/24 Strikeouts pile up in Twins' home-opening loss to Guardians. An announced crowd of 35,595 fans huddled into Target Field on Thursday afternoon to greet the new season. The Twins' offense, which delivered a late spark a day earlier, was unable to capitalize on its many opportunities Thursday, striking out 15 times in a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians in Minnesota's home opener. The Twins' issues with runners in scoring position started in the first inning when the red-hot Alex Kirilloff hit a one-out triple — his second in as many days — and was stranded on third.

3/17/24 Brooks Lee homers, triples in Twins' spring training loss to Toronto Blue Jays. DUNEDIN, Fla. — Brooks Lee understands he isn't likely to remain in Twins camp much longer. But he's making the inevitable parting much more difficult. Lee, almost certainly destined to open the season at Class AAA St. Paul, smacked his first home run and first triple in a Twins uniform Sunday, raising his spring batting average to .343 (12-for-35) with his second consecutive two-hit game. Alex Kirilloff also contributed an RBI triple, and Jose Miranda drove in a run with a single. But the Twins didn't use a pitcher expected to make the Opening Day roster, and the Toronto Blue Jays took advantage, piling up 12 hits, including three home runs, to walk away with a 9-4 victory at TD Ballpark. Lee,

3/15/24 Alex Kirilloff, Christian Vázquez homer in Twins spring training loss to Boston Red Sox. – The Twins emerged from an offensive funk Friday night when Alex Kirilloff and Christian Vázquez hit a pair of homers, but it didn't solve their Grapefruit League road woes in an 8-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park. Kirilloff lifted an opposite-field solo homer over Fenway South's version of the Green Monster against Red Sox closer Kenley Jensen.

3/12/24 Maeda, Detroit hand Twins second straight shutout. LAKELAND, FLA. - Despite the sunny skies and the mid-70s temperature, the Twins' bats have gone cold this week. The Twins were shut out for the second straight game Tuesday, and they didn't produce another hit after Alex Kirilloff's leadoff single in a 1-0 loss to former Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda and the Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium. Maeda, who signed a two-year, $24 million ...

3/05/24 Kirilloff, Castro provide pop; Twins lose to Cardinals. JUPITER, Fla. — Alex Kirilloff hit the first pitch of Tuesday's game, a knee-high fastball on the outside corner, over the left-field wall, an opposite-field home run that gave the Twins a quick lead over the Cardinals. But it didn't last. Paul Goldschmidt, the Cardinals' second hitter in the bottom of the inning, rifled a Chris Paddack fastball over the wall in deep left-center to tie the ...

1/22/24 Right-hander Jorge Alcalá guaranteed $845,000 in 1-year contract with Minnesota Twins. Right-hander Jorge Alcalá is guaranteed $845,000 as part of his one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins that avoided salary arbitration. Alcalá's deal, agreed to Jan. 11, includes a $790,000 salary this year and gives the Twins a $1.5 million option for 2025 with a $55,000 buyout. A 28-year-old right-hander, Alcalá was 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in 11 relief appearances last year. First baseman Alex Kirilloff's $1.35 million, one-year deal, reached the same day, allows him to earn $25,000 in performance bonuses for plate appearances: $12,500 each for 100 and 150.

12/05/23 Twins' Alex Kirilloff, Jose Miranda progressing well after shoulder surgeries. The Twins got better-than-expected news on a pair of players they're relying on to play first base next season after both had surgery this fall. The Twins were expecting Alex Kirilloff to need a labrum repair in his right shoulder. The same goes for Jose Miranda, who dealt with a shoulder issue that plagued him all of last season. Upon his visit to the surgeon, the Twins found out that Miranda wouldn't need a repair or a major surgery but rather just a cleanup in his right shoulder.

10/21/23 Twins position breakdown: first base. In an ideal scenario for the Twins, Alex Kirilloff would be healthy and the Twins would be able to rely on him to see much of the action at first base next year. With Kirilloff on the injured list to begin the season, veteran Joey Gallo drew the Opening Day start at first base.
