5/14/24 Yankees' Carlos Rodon shuts down Twins, continues to reap benefits from winter setup. Yankees manager Aaron Boones was asked in his pre-game media session what he makes of the Twins, who were on a 17-3 run heading into Tuesday night's series opener at Target Field. “I think they're really good,” Boone said from the visiting dugout. “I think this Twins team is really good.” Later, Boone talked up Twins leadoff hitter Ryan Jeffers.

5/13/24 Twins' Ryan Jeffers currently among league's top hitters: “I feel like this is who I am”. Ryan Jeffers had a rare day off on Sunday, a chance to sit back while his teammates took care of business against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins'[ catcher is not used to playing this much – the Twins typically employ a 50-50 split behind the plate – but these days, he's made it nearly impossible to take his bat out of the lineup. If he's not catching, it's likely he's still in the lineup as the designated hitter. Of the Twins' 40 games, Jeffers has appeared in 35 of them.

5/09/24 Twins' Jeffers out to prove he can be ‘the best catcher in baseball’. Ryan Jeffers had a breakout 2023 season, but he still expected more from himself. It was his first year with a new stance and swing, working with Twins hitting coach David Popkins after the 2022 season, and he didn't become fully comfortable with it until the second half of the season. With more time to work on his swing last winter, Jeffers looks like he's transforming from a good hitter to ...

5/07/24 Mariners break tie with four in the ninth to beat Twins, 10-6. The Twins and Mariners traded blows for eight innings on Tuesday, combining for 19 hits that included a three-run homer by Ryan Jeffers and a pinch-hit grand slam from Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, to head to the ninth inning tied 6-6. The Mariners, however, didn’t stop there. Dylan Moore hit a leadoff triple off Jorge Alcala, the first of four consecutive Mariners batters to reach base in the ninth ...

5/07/24 Twins resume winning; rookie Woods Richardson pitches 6 one-hit innings. The Twins frequently use pinch hitters and empty their bench, but they opted to keep Christian Vázquez in the batter's box with the bases loaded and the score tied in the seventh inning Monday. There were four righthanded hitters on the Twins bench, including Ryan Jeffers and Jose Miranda, when the Seattle Mariners intentionally walked switch hitter Carlos Santana to load the bases. Vázquez ...

5/04/24 Red Sox turn to bullpen game to face rolling Twins. Going into Saturday afternoon's rematch with the Boston Red Sox in Minneapolis, Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers called the streak "amazing." "Being able to put on a show for these fans every single night is cool," Jeffers told the team's TV broadcast team after Minnesota's 5-2 win in the series opener on Friday night. Jeffers and Eduoard Julien drove in two runs apiece on Friday, and five Twins pitchers held Boston to four hits. It was the second straight loss for Boston, which had won its previous four.

4/26/24 Twins aim to continue power display in opener vs. Angels. After easily dispatching the Chicago White Sox, the Twins will face another struggling team Friday night when they open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. Minnesota won just seven of its first 20 games before outscoring visiting Chicago 25-11 in the four-game set. "That's a full clubhouse of big league baseball players, and we won four games," Minnesota catcher Ryan Jeffers said. Jeffers hit one of the five Minnesota homers.

4/09/24 'He was better than all of us today': Twins can't solve ace Tyler Glasnow in 6-3 loss to Dodgers. After looking completely overmatched against Glasnow for most of the game, the Twins woke up down the stretch, though it proved to be too little, too late in a 6-3 loss to the Dodgers. “It's one of those days where you tip your cap,” catcher Ryan Jeffers said. Whether he was perfectly locating his fastball, effortlessly generating swings and misses with his curveball, or masterfully painting the corners of the strike zone with his slider, Glasnow was undoubtedly the best player on the field when he was on the mound. It was a tough draw given the way the Twins have struggled to swing the bat as of late.

4/03/24 Brewers' Chourio hits 1st career homer, but Twins rally for 7-3 victory. Jackson Chourios became the youngest player in six years to hit a home run but it wasn’t enough for the Milwaukee Brewers, who lost to the Minnesota Twins 7-3 as Ryan Jeffers hit a tiebreaking three-run drive to cap a five-run seventh inning. Rhys Hoskins also went deep for the Brewers, who lost their first game after a 4-0 start. Minnesota’s Alex Kiriloff went 4 for 4 with two singles, a double and a triple. Jeffers had four RBIs for the Twins. Chourio led off the fifth by connecting on Daniel Duarte’s 1-1 slider for a 402-foot drive.

3/04/24 Spring training roundup: Twins earn split-squad sweep. (Photo credit: Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports) Ryan Jeffers, Willi Castro and Carlos Santana hit solo home runs to guide the host Minnesota Twins to a 4-3 comeback win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla. The Twins entered the fourth inning down 2-0 before Jeffers and Castro knocked back-to-back homers off Dylan Lee. Santanadelivered the go-ahead dinger the next inning off Grant Holmes (0-2). Reliever Brock Stewart (1-0) pitched a perfect fifth with one strikeout for Minnesota. Dylan Neuse added an RBI single for an important insurance run. 2/29/24 Can Ryan Jeffers be next All-Star Catcher for Twins?. There aren't many position battles at spring training for the Twins, and despite having two experienced catchers, Ryan Jeffers is the go to guy behind the plate to open the season. Jeffers is the most improved player on the Twins' roster from last season, Jeffers hopes this spring is a launching pad for more improvement. “Last season, you know I came in, pretty much re-worked everything in my swing and my throwing mechanics and it paid off,” said Jeffers. Jeffers produced at the plate last season, but his defense was also noteworthy.

10/20/23 Twins position breakdown: catcher. The Twins knew they needed another catcher to pair with Ryan Jeffers last offseason and went out and addressed that need by signing veteran Christian Vázquez to a three-year, $30 million deal. When the season began, Vázquez was starting two out of every three games. The Twins seem to prefer having two catchers share the duties to keep both of them fresh so as they move into next year, with both under contract, a similar split seems like the likely path moving forward.
