Catcher Connor Wong (fractured pinky) is playing in his second rehab game for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. 4/28/25 | Carlos Narváez, the Red Sox' backup plan at catcher, has been working out fine since an injury to starter Connor Wong. Then they did it again a year later when the Yankees sent 26-year-old catcher Carlos Narváez to the Sox for a minor league pitcher. Verdugo helped the Yankees get to the World Series last season. Now there's a chance Narváez could do the same for the Red Sox. Narváez has started 15 of the last 19 games since Connor Wong went on the injured list April 8 with a broken finger. 4/24/25 | Red Sox 'Likely' To Take Step Toward Full Strength This Weekend. The Boston Red Sox aren't at full strength right now but they could start to take a step in the right direction this weekend. Red Sox catcher Connor Wong has been out since suffering a fracture in the pinky area of his left hand on April 7th against the Toronto Blue Jays. Boston has stayed above water since then with Carlos Narváez and Blake Sabol as the team's two catchers.
