5/10/24 Dodgers' outfielder breaks silence on 2024 struggles. The 2024 MLB campaign has been a tough one for Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman. Outman is just 2-for-24 over his last seven games, and on the season overall, he is slashing a meager .163/.260/.293 with three home runs and 10 RBI over 104 plate appearances. “It's no secret it hasn't been great, obviously,” Outman said, via Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Outman has been relegated to a part-time role due to his massive slump coupled with the rise of rookie outfielder Andy Pages, who is slashing .308/.329/.526 with four long balls and 13 RBI in 20 contests.

5/06/24 James Outman's slump could force Dodgers to make difficult decision. The clock might be ticking on James Outman. The second-year center fielder entered Monday's game batting .165 with an OPS of just .559. With the emergence of Andy Pages, Outman has been out of the lineup more frequently against left-handed starting pitching. Monday, he was dropped to ninth in the batting order.

4/25/24 Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Trying To Be 'Process-Oriented'. The Los Angeles Dodgers had one of their best offensive games of the season with an 11-2 victory against the Washington Nationals that saw them tally 20 hits as a team and included contributions from up and down their lineup. The bottom of the order has been an issue to begin the season, but James Outman provided the game-winning hit on Tuesday, and Gavin Lux and Andy Pages went a combined 5-for-10 during Wednesday's rout of the Nationals.

4/24/24 Dodgers News: James Outman 'Felt Good To Deliver' Go-Ahead RBI-Double. The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals in a 4-1 victory on Tuesday at Nationals Park as the offense delivered with a few timely hits, including one from James Outman in the eighth inning. Going 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position, the Dodgers were on par with their opponent that went 3-for-9 in those same spots. Outman, however, came through with a pinch-hit RBI-double that broke a 1-1 tie. On the sixth pitch of the at-bat, the lefty stroked a hanging splitter down the right-field line, scoring Teoscar Hernández.

4/23/24 Dodgers use late surge to pull away from Nationals. Pinch hitter James Outman doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Shohei Ohtani homered to lead off the ninth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers used late offense to defeat the host Washington Nationals 4-1 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series. 4/21/24 Strikeouts have been a big drag on Dodgers' offense. Something is dragging the Dodgers' offense down and it is spelled with a capital K. Through Saturday, the Dodgers led the National League in strikeouts (221) and were just one behind the Boston Red Sox for the major-league lead. In fewer plate appearances, James Outman has a strikeout rate (32.4 percent) nearly as high as those two (40.5 and 39.5, respectively).

4/08/24 Dodgers News: James Outman Not Being Platooned Amid Struggles. James Outman enjoyed an impressive rookie season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but his 2024 campaign has gotten off to a rough start. Outman has started in just one of the Dodgers' last four games, which came against a right-handed pitcher.

4/07/24 Dodgers giving James Outman time to 'get untracked offensively'. When the Dodgers signed Kiké Hernandez in February, Dave Roberts dismissed the idea that Hernandez would be a right-handed platoon partner for the left-handed hitting James Outman. Outman hasn't started the past three times the Dodgers faced a left-handed pitcher – Kyle Harrison of the Giants on Wednesday, Jordan Wicks and Shota Imanaga of the Cubs on Saturday and Sunday.

3/24/24 Dave Roberts Envisions James Outman Being Dodgers' Everyday Center Fielder. James Outman enjoyed an impressive rookie season as the Los Angeles Dodgers' primary center fielder and is poised to build on that success in his second full year at the Major League level. Outman hit .248/.353/.437 with 16 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs, 70 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 151 games en route to a third-place finish in National League Rookie of the Year voting. Outman crushed right-handed pitching to the tune of a .247/.351/.484 batting line in 413 plate appearances, but was not as productive against opposing southpaws as he hit just .254/.357/.308 over 154 opportunities.

3/14/24 James Outman: Shortened Spring Training Gave Dodgers 'Sense Of Urgency'. The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their Cactus League schedule on Wednesday and now are en route to South Korea for the highly anticipated Seoul Series that will be held from March 20-21. The Dodgers are playing two exhibition games prior to starting the regular season against the San Diego Padres at Gocheok Sky Dome. The Dodgers and Padres being selected to play in South Korea forced both teams to navigate through shortened Spring Training timelines.

3/01/24 Dodgers’ James Outman ready to build on successful rookie season. Outman improved tremendously in center field as the 2023 season progressed, but his streaky offense was more of a roller-coaster ride with too many strikeouts.

12/08/23 2023 Dodgers in review: James Outman. James Outman had a historic rookie season in 2023, leading to him finishing third in National League Rookie of the Year voting. Entering spring training, Outman had only a handful of big league at bats back in the 2022 season, and wasn't guaranteed to make the 26-man roster at the start of the regular season. Outman put together a strong case to begin the season as the starting center fielder, slashing .292/.397/.604 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 48 spring training at bats.

12/08/23 James Outman, 2024 Fantasy Sleeper. I've mentioned this about sixteen dozen times previously, but here goes sixteen-dozen and one times. There's sleepers ever year who fall into this category: These guys have already broken out, why don't you believe them? Then I have to go about proving what they've already done was solid, and they can do it again. This is James Outman. He already had a great year. Maybe there's just too many outfielders to draft, but I see him being drafted after 180 overall, and I think to myself, "Self, what's going on here?" Besides there just being too many outfielders, the only other reason I can think is people don't trust James Outman. Too easy to get Outman is what you say, incorrectly, and I say, correctly, about his draft price. See what I did there? I'm not sure myself so don't ask me to repeat it. It's gone forever now! Last year, James Outman put up the line of 86/23/70/.248/16 in 483 ABs. Geez, his line already looks like what I'm praying/hoping/please daddy'ing from number two outfielder, forget about where he's going around 3rd to 4th outfielders. Is 86/23/70/.248/16 in 483 ABs really only, roughly, the 45th best outfielder off the board as I've seen? It's a glorious time, but is it that glorious, Gloria, G-L-O-R-I-A? Maybe it is. That's the only excuse for him falling in drafts. I will hear no other! So, what can we expect from James Outman for 2024 fantasy baseball and what makes him a sleeper?

11/13/23 Dodgers Prospects Miguel Vargas & Michael Busch Could See Time In Outfield. The Los Angeles Dodgers have their core of position players set with the offseason underway, but they still need to figure out what their plan is in the outfield for the 2024 season. James Outman is locked into one of the starting spots, which is presumably center field, unless the Dodgers make a surprise move that pushes him into a corner position. Mookie Betts is expected to see a lot of time at second base, which esssentially leaves two open starting outfield spots in the corners. Betts will still see some time in right field, and Chris Taylor is another option to receive starts out there, but he figures to also move around the diamond as well.

11/11/23 Dodgers notes: James Outman, Rule 5 Draft, Corey Seager. Dodgers center fielder James Outman will finish in the top three in National League Rookie of the Year voting, with full results on the award announced on Monday. D-backs outfielder Corbin Carroll and Mets pitcher Kodai Senga are the other top-three finishers, which were announced last Monday. Carroll is the overwhelming favorite with 65 extra-base hits and 54 stolen bases with a 133 wRC+, finishing sixth among all NL players with 6.0 fWAR. The folks at Baseball Digest picked Carroll as the unanimous winner for their NL rookie of the year honor, collecting all 11 first-place votes in results that were announced on Wednesday.
