Sal Frelick homered for the first time this season, Joe Ross and three relievers combined on a three-hitter, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3. Pittsburgh’s Nick Gonzales hit his first homer of the year, and Connor Joe also went deep for the Pirates. Gonzales’ last homer was July 2 against the Brewers. Frelick hadn’t homered since Aug. 7 of last season, against the Pirates. Frelick also made two diving catches in center field.

Andrés Muñoz walked four batters in the ninth inning to bring home the winning run in the Milwaukee Brewers’ 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night. After the Mariners scored twice in the top of the inning to tie it, Muñoz (0-1) opened the bottom half by walking Sal Frelick, Jake Bauers and Brice Turang to load the bases. After Jackson Chourio struck out looking, William Contreras walked on a 3-1 pitch that was ruled just off the outside corner to score Frelick. Former Brewers infielder Luis Urías contributed to the tying rally in his first game against his old team, pulling Milwaukee within a run with a ground-rule double. One out later, Julio Rodríguez grounded in the tying run.

Sal Frelick, Oliver Dunn and Eric Haase had the Brewer RBIs. On Sunday The Crew topped Arizona 10-4. Willy Adames and Jefferson Quero had homers. Garrett Mitchell drove in two runs. Freddy Peralta made his first start of the spring and gave up all three tuns through three innings of work. The Brewers face ther San Francisco Giants this afternoon.

2/28/24 Angels Top Brewers In Spring Tilt. TEMPE, AZ (WSAU) — The Los Angeles Angels took a 6-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday at spring training. Sal Frelick had two hits for the Brewers including a triple. Oliver Dunn had an RBI double with Willy Adames and Brice Turang and Jefferson Quero notching the other RBIs. Jason Junk started and pitched a scoreless inning. Hoby Milner gave up three runs in his inning of work. The Brewers, now 1-3, will face the Chicago Cubs this afternoon at Maryvale. 9/11/23 Yankees win in 13 despite getting no-hit by Brewers for 10 innings. Sal Frelick raced back as Anthony Volpe hit a deep drive to right field and was fully aware of the short porch along with the the larger Joey Wiemer charging in his direction from center field. The rookie's intent was to extend the game and keep a historic no-hit bid alive for the Milwaukee Brewers, even if it meant a collision. Frelick was able to keep the Yankees hitless and the game scoreless with his leaping, backhand catch in the 10th inning, but New York rallied to beat the Brewers 4-3 on Sunday when Giancarlo Stanton hit a tying, two-run homer in the 12th and Kyle Higashioka hit a winning double in the 13th.
