The St. Louis Cardinals recently made a somewhat surprising decision to keep young infielder Thomas Saggese on the big league roster despite both Masyn Winn and Nolan Gorman. The surprising part of that decision to keep him in St. Louis had nothing to do with his performance. The surprising part was that there wasn't going to be as much time to go around for him to have an everyday opportunity with Winn and Gorman now healthy. Masyn Winn is eligible to be activated off the Injured List on April 22nd after being placed on the Injured List due to back spasms. Masyn Winn and Jordan Walker are two of the youngsters that the Cardinals would love to see take big steps forward, but it doesn't seem like that's the way they're trending. Josh Jacobs of Redbird Rants recently noted that he was worried about the aforementioned Walker. | 4/18/25 | Cardinals Rising Star Could Be Days Away From St. Louis Return. The St. Louis Cardinals have been without the services of Masyn Winn since April 11th but it sounds like he's almost back. Winn was forced to leave the April 11th contest against the Philadelphia Phillies due to back spasms. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Friday that Winn's gearing up for rehab assignment on Friday and could return as soon as next week if all goes well. "Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn will move a step closer Friday to returning to the lineup, along with a plan to keep him in it," Goold said.
