9/08/10Ian Stewart (ribs) will be rested for the next few days after suffering a setback during batting practice Tuesday. Stewart was expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday in anticipation for a return from the disabled list Friday, but that won't be happening now. The Rockies will see how he feels in a few days, but fantasy owners should be prepared to live without him down the stretch. Melvin Mora has been manning third base recently, but Jonathan Herrera, Clint Barmes and Chris Nelson are all capable of playing third base.
9/08/10Ian Stewart (ribs) will play minor league rehab games with the organization's rookie league team in Casper on Wednesday and Thursday.
9/06/10Ian Stewart (ribs) feels "great" and expects to come off the disabled list when he is eligible on Friday.
8/31/10Rockies placed 3B Ian Stewart on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 26, with a strained rib cage.
8/29/10Ian Stewart (oblique) is likely unavailable Sunday.
8/08/10Ian Stewart finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Saturday in the Rockies' extra-innings loss to the Pirates.
7/31/10Rockies 3B Ian Stewart homered for the fourth time since the All-Star break during Friday's win over the Cubs. He went 2 for 6 with a two-run shot off Cubs reliever Andrew Cashner, driving in three runs on the night.
7/10/10Ian Stewart drove in six runs with a pair of homers and led the Rockies to a 10-8 win over the Padres on Friday.
7/05/10Ian Stewart had to leave Saturday's game after getting plunked on the elbow by a Barry Zito fastball.
7/01/10Ian Stewart was out of the starting lineup against the Padres on Wednesday afternoon.
6/28/10Ian Stewart is in Monday's starting lineup against the Padres.
6/23/10Ian Stewart is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Red Sox.
6/09/10Rockies third baseman Ian Stewart was replaced in the starting lineup by Melvin Mora for the second straight game. Stewart suffered a bone bruise when he fouled a pitch off the inside of his right leg just above the ankle during the recent road trip to Arizona. Stewart said a precautionary X-ray did not reveal any more extensive damage.
5/30/10Rockies manager Jim Tracy said Stewart could improve his concentration on the ball when he has a close play that he has to field with his bare hand, but that's not much of a complaint. Tracy managed the Dodgers when he thought Adrian Beltre played third base at a level comparable to that of perennial Gold Glove winner Scott Rolen. Tracy said Stewart is every bit as effective.
5/10/10Going into Sunday's finale with the Dodgers, Stewart was hitting .250 with no extra-base hits at Coors Field, but .333 with six home runs, four doubles and a triple on the road.
5/06/10Colorado manager Jim Tracy said he had talked with Stewart, whose home run was his fifth of the season, about not falling into the same habits that made him a .228 hitter last season -- even though he hit 25 home runs and drove in 70 runs. After the homer, Tracy greeted Stewart with a happy "See, I told you so."
4/24/10Stewart entered Friday night's game with the Marlins hitting .327 and leading the team in home runs, with four, and RBIs with 10. One of the keys, Stewart said, is that he's not analyzing why he's succeeding or fretting over where he can be better. He's putting his energy into finding a routine that works.
4/05/10Ian Stewart celebrated his 25th birthday with a home run in the second inning off Yovani Gallardo (0-1), and another RBI on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.
