4/28/24 Cardinals look to score early, often vs. Mets. St. Louis followed Friday's 4-2 victory, in which it took a four-run lead in the third inning, with a 7-4 win on Saturday by getting four runs in the opening frame. Paul Goldschmidt highlighted the big inning Saturday with a two-run double and also scored the sixth run for the Cardinals, who have scored 22 times while winning four of five games. Friday's quick start occurred after Alec Burleson hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Willson Contreras homered in the third. "That's huge," said St. Louis starter and Saturday's winner, Sonny Gray.

4/23/24 San Francisco Giants Could Be Prime Trade Candidate for Former MVP. San Francisco Giants Could Be Prime Trade Candidate for Former MVP The San Francisco Giants could be a perfect trade candidate for a former MVP winner. Author: Jon Conahan Apr 23, 2024 In this story: San Francisco Giants MLB Paul Goldschmidt The start of the season for the San Francisco Giants has been tough, but the team sits just two games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. Offensively, the Giants have been average to start the year. They're sitting among league average in nearly every major hitting category. If they want to be the team they're looking to be, that needs to improve. Factor in some of the slow starts from their top players, flipping the script

4/20/24 Cardinals' offensive struggles override a strong outing from Kyle Gibson and the relief corps. When those have-to-have-it situations come up for the Cardinals offense, too often they've come away empty. Former NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt had the bat in his hand with the bases loaded, the score tied with a chance to deliver a win for the Cardinals in the bottom of the ninth and erase the bad taste of their recent offensive struggles, but he hit a meek ground ball to shortstop. The Cardinals gave up a run courtesy of the automatic runner in extra innings and they couldn't muster an answer in the bottom half of the frame in a 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in the series opener in front of an announced crowd of 40,147 at Busch Stadium on Friday night. “First and foremost, I just take responsibility for how I've played,” Goldschmidt said.
