José Ramírez had a pair of two-run singles and reached base five times as the Cleveland Guardians beat Texas 7-0 on Monday night and sent the Rangers to their first four-game losing streak of the season. 5/12/24 Guardians Searching For Answers On Offense. What was once a promising and exciting start on offense for the Cleveland Guardians has turned into a slight concern a little over a week into May. Over the last week, the Guardians have a team batting average of .210 and an on-base percentage of .249. “We're grinding a little bit on offense right now and we've got to find a way,” said Stephen Vogt after Cleveland's 3-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.

5/12/24 White Sox seek series sweep of first-place Guardians. Chicago White Sox starting pitchers have allowed just one run in 16 2/3 innings through the first three games of their weekend series against the visiting Cleveland Guardians. The starting staff is a big reason why Chicago is seeking a four-game sweep on Sunday afternoon. Cleveland scored its first run of the series against Chicago starters on Saturday. "We battled, but we weren't able to put anything in the outfield grass there for awhile," Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said.

Manager Stephen Vogt knows his starting rotation is wobbly. “We're letting hitters get back in the count,” said Vogt. Tanner Bibee, a couple of hours after Vogt's statement, did just that. The Guardians won it with two runs in the 11th.

4/26/24 The Oakland A's Are Sneaky Good?. The Oakland A's Are Sneaky Good? Author: Jason Burke Apr 27, 2024 After splitting a four-game series with the New York Yankees on the road to start the week, the Oakland A's came from behind to tie the game in the top of the ninth in Baltimore on Friday, and then secured the win in the tenth. On a road trip that included stops against the three top teams in the American League, the A's are holding their own--mostly. This week against New York and the first game against Baltimore, the A's are 3-2. The first stop in Cleveland last weekend ended in a series sweep by the home team, and former A's catcher and new Guardians manager Stephen Vogt seems to have his old team's number in 2024, boasting

4/23/24 Cleveland Guardians are off to a blazing start with MLB's best record under rookie manager. Heads bobbed in unison around Cleveland's clubhouse late Sunday afternoon as techno music thumped from a floor speaker that also projected colored lights around the room. The mood was both upbeat and typical as some of the Guardians played cards or video games or chilled after a series sweep. Rarely, if ever, in the discussion among baseball's top contenders, the Guardians are playing better than anyone. At 16-6 under first-year manager Stephen Vogt, who has pushed every correct button so far, the Guardians head into the final days of the season's first month with the best record in the majors and atop the AL Central.

Under first-year manager Stephen Vogt, Cleveland entered play Monday with a major league-best 16-6 record and plus-52 run differential, plus an AL-high 124 runs. "Anytime you can win early in the season, those are wins no one can take away from us," Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti told reporters.

4/18/24 Guardians outlast Red Sox for sloppy 5-4 win, take three of four games in Boston. A sloppy win still counts the same in the standings, and Thursday's 5-4 Guardians victory against Boston at Fenway Park was messy in more ways than one. Driving rains persisted throughout the second half of the contest, but the Guardians stayed focused and remained atop the American League Central Division standings at 13-6. Manager Stephen Vogt said his team's ability to block out the weather and overcome some early miscues showed up in the final result. “To be quite frank, we didn't play very well today,” Vogt said.

4/18/24 Leadoff man gets a day to unplug: Guardians takeaways. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt wanted his left fielder and leadoff man to unplug for a day. Steven Kwan, leading the American League in runs with 18 and second in the league in hits (29) and batting average (.354), was not in Vogt's starting lineup for the first time this season as Cleveland faced Boston in the finale of its four-game series at Fenway Park on Thursday. Vogt said he told Kwan to turn everything off for the day.

4/14/24 Guardians cap homestand that began with total solar eclipse by rallying to shock Yankees 8-7 in 10. The Guardians began their first homestand staring at the sky in awe. Cleveland capped a memorable opening week at Progressive Field on Sunday by scoring three runs in the 10th inning f or an 8-7 win to salvage the finale of a three-game series against baseball's top team. It's early, way too early to make any broad declarations about the Guardians. "This whole homestand, we fought back,” first-year manager Stephen Vogt said.
