11/25/23 There's a Hoskins' shaped hole in my heart. With Harper coming to the plate during the Phillies' home opener in 2019, Braves' manager Brian Snitker decided the better of valor was loading the base and taking his chance pitting Luke Jackson against a young Rhys Hoskins. The crowd booed as Harper walked to first, denied a chance to hit in his Phillies' debut. Rhys ambled from the on-deck circle to the plate. In the broadcast booth, John Kruk mentioned this is why they talk about Hoskins having a chance to do real damage.

11/19/23 Player Review: Luke Jackson. It had been nearly 19 months since Luke Jackson had thrown a pitch in an MLB game when he debuted for the San Francisco Giants on May 31st of the 2023 season. A torn ligament in his throwing arm diagnosed in April 2022 meant he'd undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entirety of his final season before free agency. Bullpen sessions in the Spring but the righty still wasn't ready and started the 2023 season on the 15-day IL, a designation quickly updated to the 60-day. After rehab assignments in San Jose and Sacramento, the long path of recovery finally arrived back at big leagues' doorstep at the end of May.

9/10/23 Inside the team meeting that SF Giants hope can propel them into the postseason. What can a team meeting accomplish? “I've always been against meetings,” Giants reliever Luke Jackson said before their series finale against the Rockies, ESPN's Sunday night game of the week. The latest, first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, came Friday, before their first game against Colorado, and the message came from on high. President Farhan Zaidi was first to address the group, but speakers also included longtime coach Ron Wotus and a handful of veterans.

6/26/23 Giants injury updates. The Giants are positively cruising, even after dropping the series finale to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. For the first few weeks of the season, we waited for the Giants to get healthy. The Giants made a move before Sunday's game, placing left-handed pitcher Luke Jackson on the 15-day IL, and recalling right-handed pitcher Ross Stripling.

5/30/23 Luke Jackson completes long road back from Tommy John, joins SF Giants bullpen. SAN FRANCISCO — Giants manager Gabe Kapler keeps the wet bar in his office well-stocked. An array of mostly dark liquors line the metal shelves of the bar cart, its total value approaching a modest annual salary, but one bottle holds a special meaning. On Tuesday, it was about time to crack it open. “Today's the day,” Giants reliever Luke Jackson said, smiling. After signing a two-year, $11.5 million free-agent deal this offseason, Jackson arrived at spring training bearing a gift for his new manager. Himself a fan of Japanese whiskey, Jackson asked around and learned Kapler's tastes — “something that's different,” he said — and decided on a bottle that retails for approximately $1,100: Yamazaki

1/11/23 Jackson needs 55 games finished in 2024 for full escalator. Luke Jackson must have 55 games finished in 2024 to trigger the full $3.5 million escalator for 2025 in his $11.5 million, two-year contract with the Giants, a deal that could be worth $20 million over three seasons. The 31-year-old right-hander missed last season after Tommy John surgery. He gets a $3 million salary next year and $6.5 million in 2024, and the Giants have a $7 million option for 2025 with a $2 million buyout.

4/02/22 Braves reliever Luke Jackson undergoes MRI on right arm. One of the defending World Series champion Braves’ key relievers, Luke Jackson, could miss time this season due to a right arm injury. The MRI showed damage to his “ulnar collateral ligament in his right arm,” the Braves posted on Twitter. As a right handed pitcher, the severity of the injury could cause Jackson to miss substantial time depending how evaluations of the damage come back.

10/26/21 The Latest: Jackson throws scoreless 6th, Braves lead 5-1. Luke Jackson relieved A.J. Minter and threw a scoreless sixth inning, leaving the Atlanta Braves with a 5-1 lead over the Houston Astros in the World Series opener. Minter pitched 2 2/3 innings and 43 pitches, his most in five big league seasons, after starter Charlie Morton left with a broken right calf bone. Jackson allowed Kyle Tucker’s one-out single in the sixth, then retired Yuli Gurriel on a groundout and struck out Chas McCormick.

10/20/21 Braves again blow their chance for 3-0 NLCS lead on Dodgers.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Luke Jackson threw the pitch he wanted in the exact location he wanted it, and Cody Bellinger still hammered that above-the-letters fastball deep into the frenzied right field stands at Dodger Stadium for a tying three-run homer in Game 3 of the NL Championship Series.

“Sad thing is, I would do the same thing again,” the dismayed Atlanta reliever said.

The Braves realize even the best-laid plans and the best-located pitches can go wrong in the postseason, particularly when you're facing the Los Angeles Dodgers.

They're determined not to allow the shock of the Dodgers' stunning, come-from-behind 6-5 victory Tuesday night to interrupt their quest to knock off the defending World Series champions.

“To feel like this is like a dagger? No,” said Jackson, who gave up four runs on four hits in the eighth after starting the postseason with six consecutive scoreless outings.

“This is just, you know, a speed bump in the road," Jackson added. "And I wish it didn’t happen, and I wish we were up 3-0 going into Game 4 and having a chance to sweep, but I have no doubt at all in our team coming back and (being) stronger tomorrow and ready to recollect and roll.”

For the second straight season, the Braves had a 2-0 NLCS lead on the Dodgers. Once again, the Braves missed their chance to put their big-budget opponents into the deepest of series holes.

And this heartbreaker probably stung the Braves a whole lot more than last year’s 15-3 loss in Game 3.

A blowout is a whole lot easier to shake off than a defeat in which the Braves had a three-run lead with five outs to play, but failed to close out their 106-win opponents.

“We have lost tough games before and bounced back and done really good things,” Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said. “So this is just one of them...

9/19/21 Braves reinstate Luke Jackson from paternity list, option Orlando Arcia. After a two-game absence, Luke Jackson will rejoin the Atlanta Braves in time for Sunday’s series finale against the San Francisco Giants. Jackson was placed on the paternity list prior to Thursday’s rainout against the Colorado Rockies. To make room on the active roster, Atlanta optioned infielder Orlando Arcia back to Gwinnett.
