5/12/24	For Tigers' Mark Canha, iffy called strikes a worthwhile tradeoff for elite-level at-bats. Early in the week, a video was circulated on social media platforms showing called strike after called strike against Mark Canha on pitches that were outside of the strike zone. At that time, per Thomas Nestico and TJStats, Canha led baseball with 24 pitches outside the zone that were called strikes. “Honestly, I take more pitches than the average person,” he said. An umpire blew three straight calls on Monday night to rob the Detroit Tigers of a rally in their loss to the Cleveland Guardians. The moment in question came during the top of the fifth inning. The Tigers had runners at the corners with one out, and Mark Canha was at the plate in a 1-1 game.
