4/27/24 San Diego Padres flummoxed by Phillies again at Petco Park. For whatever reason the Phillies just have the Padres number, especially when they're playing in the East Village. Since the jewel of a ballpark opened in 2004 Philadelphia has made it their west coast vacation home, going 47-22 at Petco Park (including the 2022 NLCS). Not even Dylan Cease, who entered the game on one of the best stretches of his career, could make a difference. It was a sign that this was not going to be the Padres night.

4/24/24 Rockies face Padres, look for 2024 first: back-to-back wins. Colorado's offense broke out in Tuesday night's 7-4 win over the Padres, snapping a six-game losing streak to San Diego. The Padres took the series opener 3-1 on Monday behind a strong outing from Dylan Cease, who allowed just one hit over seven innings. The Padres will send right-hander Matt Waldron (0-2, 4.74 ERA) to the mound while the Rockies had not announced a starter as of Wednesday morning. Tuesday was a rare win for Colorado, which had lost 10 of 12 entering the game.

4/23/24 Padres' Dylan Cease pulls off dominant Coors Field first. Pitching at Coors Field in Colorado is never an easy task given its high elevation. Dylan Cease did not seem to mind, though, as the San Diego Padres star made Coors Field history on Monday. “Dylan Cease is the first pitcher in Coors Field history to complete at least seven innings, allow one or no hits, and issue zero walks,” Dennis Lin of The Athletic wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Of course, being able to throw 98 MPH to go along with a nasty slider is something that Coors Field can not even deter.

4/23/24 Cease allows 1 hit over 7 innings to pitch Padres past scuffling Rockies 3-1 at Coors Field. Dylan Cease permitted one hit in seven dominant innings and pinch-hitter Tyler Wade singled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth, sending the San Diego Padres to a 3-1 victory over the struggling Colorado Rockies. Cease struck out eight and walked none, allowing only one baserunner in a 90-pitch outing. Acquired from the Chicago White Sox in a March 13 trade, the right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.82. Luis Campusano had two hits for the Padres and scored the go-ahead run. With runners at the corners in the ninth, Robert Suarez got Ryan McMahon to ground into a game-ending double play for his eighth save. Colorado lost for the eighth time in nine games and dropped to 5-18, the worst record in the National League.
