Phils' Taijuan Walker, fighting for starting role, faces White Sox. Eyeing their second straight road series victory, the Philadelphia Phillies will turn to a pitcher who senses he likely is a lame duck in the rotation. Taijuan Walker is set to get the call Wednesday in the decisive contest of the visiting Phillies' three-game series against the Chicago White Sox. With fellow righty Aaron Nola (ankle, rib) slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, though, this could be it for Walker in the rotation for a time. "Aaron's coming back at some point, so I assume that I'll be the odd man out, which is fine," Walker said.

Amid trade rumors, Twins chase series win over Red Sox. The Minnesota Twins will try their best to avoid distractions when they face the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon in the teams' final game before the trade deadline. On Tuesday night, Twins closer Jhoan Duran sparked a social-media firestorm when he was spotted giving a hug to the team's bullpen catcher. Fans quickly speculated that the gesture meant that Duran had been told that he was traded. Fans' fears subsided almost as quickly once reports emerged that Duran still was on the Twins and that no trade was imminent.

What they're saying: Phillies 'very aggressive' ahead of trade deadline. The Phillies' top priority before Thursday's 6 p.m. deadline remains improving the bullpen, multiple officials from rival teams said over the weekend. But they're also exploring ways to add offense, with left field and center field as the most sensible positions to upgrade. The team talked with the Diamondbacks about slugger Eugenio Suárez, who would join Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the middle of the order. It wouldn't be the cleanest fit. Suárez is a third baseman, and although Alec Bohm is out with a fractured left rib, the Phillies expect him to return next month. Trading for Suárez, then, eventually would require an undesirable countermove, such as putting Schwarber back in left field.

Mets rumors: Insider labels NY ‘the frontrunner’ for Luis Robert Jr.. Luis Robert Jr. continues to draw plenty of interest on the trade market despite his struggles -- with the Mets being hot on his tail.

Luzardo, Schwarber help Phillies beat White Sox 6-3. Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run homer, Jesús Luzardo pitched seven sparkling innings and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Tuesday night. Brandon Marsh also hit a two-run drive for Philadelphia, which bounced back nicely after dropping the series opener on Monday night. Schwarber, Marsh and Trea Turner each had two hits. Luzardo (9-5) allowed two hits, struck out four and walked one.

Can the Phillies really afford to acquire a hitter like Chicago's Luis Robert Jr.?. The maddening thing about the Phillies' two biggest issues is that they have not changed since opening day. When the Phillies decided to enter 2025 with Max Kepler in left field and Jordan Romano in the back of the bullpen, most of the fan base figured Dave Dombrowski would end up exactly where he is right now: scrambling to find an actual solution. Dombrowski knows this better than anybody. The trade market deadline always exacts its pound of flesh.

Kyle Schwarber achieves HR feat not done before in Phillies franchise history. When Kyle Schwarber connects, there's no question about it. And on Tuesday night, the Phillies slugger made franchise history — with authority. In the third inning of Philadelphia's 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox, Schwarber obliterated a 441-foot two-run homer off Jonathan Cannon, marking his 37th of the season. No player in Phillies franchise history has ever hit 37 home runs before the calendar flipped to August. The previous high-water mark came from Ryan Howard, who crushed 58 homers in 2006.
