A day after wide receiver Terry McLaurin requested a trade from the Washington Commanders, another NFC East star has followed suit and purportedly come available for the Pittsburgh Steelers. To many's surprise, Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons officially announced that he's seeking a trade amidst frustrations with how negotiations on an extension have transpired. Parsons referenced being irked by some passive aggressive comments from Cowboys owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones, who seemed to call into question his availability towards the beginning of training camp. "Just because we sign him doesn't mean we're going to have him," Jones said, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

There were several standouts in this one, including quarterback Trey Lance, but it was rookie wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith who stole the show. After the game, he was given a perfect nickname from linebacker Daiyan Henley, who shared Lambert-Smith's postgame interview, along with the caption "Lambo."

Chargers breakout candidate isn't only rookie WR shining at training camp. The Los Angeles Chargers may have the magic touch when it comes to drafting receivers. Last year, the current regime of Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh passed on a pass catcher at No.5 overall, only to select Ladd McConkey one round later. Former Oklahoma State Running Back Chuba Hubbard Poised for Another Big NFL Season. Chuba Hubbard has been the definition of a grinder since entering the league in 2021 as a fourth-round draft pick. Coming out of Oklahoma State, the Carolina Panthers used Hubbard as a complementary back role alongside Christian McCaffrey before his departure, then took a backseat role to D'Onta Foreman following his strong rookie season. Heading into 2023, the former Pokes running back had much to prove to Carolina's front office to prove he could be the lead back of the Panthers. To kick off his first season as the lead back, Hubbard would tally 665 yards and six touchdowns by the start of November, which prompted the Panthers to offer the former fourth-rounder a four-year, $33 million contract extension with $15 million guaranteed.

The former Wales winger spent 18 months in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, but did not feature for either franchise in a regular-season game.
“I can’t name teams, but I’ve had a load of interest, which is unbelievable. I’m very grateful for that,” Rees-Zammit told Sky Sports News. “The season starts pretty soon. So it’s about finding the right team for me in terms of location, in terms of how quick I’ve got to get into camp, and because the season’s right around the corner, so all of these things that are going to happen, are going to happen pretty sharpish.

Clayton Tune Finds Himself In Another Training Camp Battle. If there is anybody that was surprised the Cardinals added a quarterback during free agency, it wasn't Clayton Tune. During the early portion of free agency, the Cardinals inked a deal with veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett. NY Giants Quarterbacks Continue to Get Little Respect from National Outlets. Outside of their surprising 2022 season, which marked the best year of the Daniel Jones era under center, the New York Giants' quarterback position has been in a continuous decline for much of the past several seasons. The group's negative impact on the entire offense was never clearer than last fall, when Jones continued to regress in his decision making in the pocket and the Giants struggled to get the ball into the endzone with three other arms that got called up after the franchise in the middle of the year eventually released him. With inconsistency in the passing game and an inclination for taking sacks rather than getting the ball out quicker, the Giants held the league's worst scoring offense, notching under 15 points per contest and finishing in the basement of several major statistics, both in the air and on the ground, sparking a heavy need for change at this glaring need on the roster. Of course, not all could have been blamed on the quarterback when the Giants have not had a strong offensive line that helps keep their signal caller upright.

Breakout years are never a guarantee at this level, though - and there's always a chance that Murphy may never live up to his full potential as a first-round draft pick. The Philadelphia Eagles never stopped pumping up their defensive line - and look where that's gotten them. Cardinals Want To Keep Garrett Williams On The Field. The Cardinals have spent their past two second-round picks on cornerbacks Max Melton and Will Johnson, and it makes sense that the team wants and needs them to play to such pedigree and become a major part of the defense. The Cards also will play nickel a lot, allowing a third cornerback, opening up opportunity, and as coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday, "we play a lot of packages here so guys kick in and out" as the right players -- including corners -- are used in particular spots. Stock Watch: Rookie WRs among few bright spots for Lions in preseason loss. It didn't take long for TeSlaa to flash his penchant for big plays, notching consecutive explosives (gains of 24 and 22 yards) in the first quarter. The first catch was courtesy of a play-action rollout by quarterback Kyle Allen, who put the ball on TeSlaa near Detroit's 30-yard line, allowing the rookie to pick up 15 yards after the catch. TeSlaa also had a notable rep as a gunner on punt coverage, beating the opponent in front of him and forcing Nyheim Miller-Hines to settle for a fair catch at the 10-yard line.

If you were only watching the box score, you might already think that Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Byron Murphy II is already a bust. To be sure, the traditional numbers from his rookie season won't jump out at anybody. In 14 gamese Murphy totaled just 36 tackles, half a sack, one QB hit and two tackles for a loss on the year. NY Giants Tight Ends Have Been Invisible in This Key Area. The NFL has proven time and again that the proper use of players at the tight end position can work wonders for an offense, particularly in the red zone. The reasons for that seem head-scratching, particularly when considering the size advantage most tight ends have in terms of making a contested catch over a smaller defender. Last year, the Giants tight ends went 10 of 12 (83.3%) on contested catches, and yet when it came to the red zone, they were only targeted four times (one each for Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz and Greg Dulcich), the tight ends coming up with two receptions (50%) and one touchdown.

According to a video posted to Instagram, Murray announced he is retiring from the NFL after 10 seasons in the league, one of which was spent with the Bills. "They never saw a pro in me but 11 years later, I showed what a pro really looks like!" Murray wrote in a caption for the post. Murray's one season in Buffalo came in 2023, when he carried the ball 79 times for 300 yards and four touchdowns while adding 17 receptions for another 119 yards over 16 games (four starts).

McLaurin has one year remaining on a three-year, $71MM deal he signed with the Commanders back in 2022. The $23.3MM average annual value now ranks 17th among wide receivers, and the former All-Pro is seeking a new deal that would put him even with the other top level wideouts in the NFL, as there as been a major spike in contracts at the position over the last few tears. While McLaurin hasn't explicitly stated what kind of money he's seeking in his new deal, it's tough to see him being happy with anything under roughly 34 million per year.

Lions rookie Ahmed Hassanein shakes pregame butterflies, flashes ability in run defense. FaceTiming his father before the start of a game is nothing new for Ahmed Hassanein, but this one was different. For the first time in Hassanein's life, he was calling his dad with an NFL logo on his chest, set to soon take the field for his unofficial professional debut. Emotions were high for the Detroit Lions' rookie, and those feelings were carried with him through the tunnel and onto the field at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Thursday. Hassanein "almost cried multiple times during the beginning of the game."

Karen Guregian: Patriots need to be smart about using Drake Maye as a runner. Backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs opened a can of worms this week when he revealed how Josh McDaniels was a fan of utilizing the athleticism of his quarterbacks. Dobbs said McDaniels wanted to keep opposing defenses on their heels with the threat of quarterback runs. Drake Maye can certainly run.

If you're going to make the Hall of Fame in ways that nobody else ever has, it goes without saying that you had to be legendary at what you did. It does go without saying that Devin Hester, who played with the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Seattle Seahawks during his 11-year career from 2006-2016, was about as legendary as he could be at what he did. A first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2024 primarily as a punt and kick returner (nobody else has that designation), Hester ranks first all-time in pro football in non-offensive touchdowns (20), third all-time in punt return yards (3,695), 12th all-time in kick return yards (7,333).
