A rare first for Ohtani: Dodgers superstar strikes out in his first 4 plate appearances. Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani had another first in his MLB career. Ohtani struck out in his first four plate appearances Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds, the first time he has done that in his eight seasons in the majors. It is the sixth time the Japanese superstar and reigning NL MVP has struck out four times in a game. It is the second time this season, with the other coming against San Diego on June 17. Despite Ohtani’s tough night at the plate, the Dodgers rallied for a 5-4 victory on an RBI double by Will Smith in the ninth inning.

Cincinnati Reds Ace Struggles in Rehab Start With Triple-A Louisville. Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene made his second rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Louisville and struggled. The right-hander gave up four runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings. He threw 50 pitches, did not walk a batter, and struck out six. Greene hasn't pitched in a big league game since June 3. He's posted a 2.72 ERA in 11 starts so far this season. Getting Greene back in the rotation would be a big boost for the rotation. The 25-year-old flamethrower has been on the injured list for a couple of months with a groin strain. He was set to go on a rehab assignment a couple of weeks ago, but felt something and the Reds elected to send him to their complex in Arizona to continue to

Dodgers' Alexis Diaz hears boos, gets relief win in his first-ever appearance vs Reds. Former Reds closer Alexis Diaz only needed eight pitches to retire all four batters he faced to earn his first win as a Dodger.

1 last-minute trade Los Angeles Dodgers must complete before 2025 deadline. As crazy as it may sound, the Los Angeles Dodgers are more or less on track with their 2024 pace. Blake Treinen pitched his first inning back with the team in their 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds, and while he didn't make it through the inning, forcing Jack Dreyer to secure the save in dramatic fashion, he should be a high-leverage arm for the team moving forward.

Ohtani strikes out 4 times; Will Smith's RBI double in 9th gives Dodgers 5-4 win over Reds. CINCINNATI -- - Will Smith had an RBI double in the ninth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Shohei Ohtani struck out four times in a major league game for the sixth time, but it was the first time it happened in his first four at-bats. The reigning NL MVP also had a nine-game hitting streak snapped. The Dodgers got three hits from Freddie Freeman , including a game-tying RBI single in the seventh inning, and Tommy Edman had a two-run homer in the first inning. Former Cincinnati closer Alexis Díaz (1-0), who was dealt to the Dodgers on May 29, pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Jake Fraley and Noelvi Marte homered for the Reds,
