7/15/25 | Former Mets fan favorite elects free agency following DFA. For the third time this season, veteran center fielder Travis Jankowski will be a free agent. Following his DFA from the New York Mets last week, Jankowski cleared waivers and has officially elected free agency instead of returning to Triple-A. The former fan favorite returned to New York on a minor league deal at the beginning of June, and he appeared in eight games for Triple-A Syracuse before joining the big league roster. Travis Jankowski led off with a single, Drew Gilbert walked, and David Villar drove in Jankowski with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Outfielder Travis Jankowski agreed to a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday after opting out a minor league deal with the Cubs. Jankowksi signed with the Cubs on Feb. 24 after spending the past two seasons in Texas, where he won a World Series with the Rangers in 2023 as their fourth outfielder. The 33-year-old hit .263 with 30 RBIs in 2023 and gave the Rangers some solid defense in the outfield during their World Series run, but his average dropped to .200 with 12 RBIs in 104 games last season.
