7/22/25 Tom Brennan - Promote Them Already! Lindor and Baty Intersecting. CARSON BENGE I suggested in a comment on Monday that Jett Williams might be more advanced than Tyrone Taylor and his promotion to AA straight to the big leagues ought to be considered. I also suggested that Carson Benge through Sunday was hitting so well after his promotion to AA that the Mets might want to consider promoting him straight from AA to the majors. I have recently suggested that the incredible Jonah Tong could have helped the Mets more than some of David's painful parade of AAAA relievers, too, with Tong going straight from AA to the bigs. Someone taking the contrary view suggested that guys never go straight from AA to the majors. Special guys do, though. Juan Soto barely even played

7/21/25 Mets predicted to acquire $15 million former All-Star in risky trade. The New York Mets might have to make a risky play at the trade deadline. Center field has been a major struggle for the Mets this season, as Tyrone Taylor has had to assume most of the starting duties in the wake of Jose Siri's leg fracture. Taylor's a good defender, but his work with the bat has never been stellar.

7/16/25 MLB Mock Blockbuster Trade: Baltimore Orioles Deal Cedric Mullins To New York Mets. Coming out of the All-Star break, the New York Mets find themselves just half a game behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East and squarely in the thick of the playoff race. Tyrone Taylor may be a defensive wizard, but he's been ice-cold at the plate, and the injured Jose Siri hasn't offered much more. While the Mets have been hesitant to move on from Taylor, adding a veteran with speed, pop, and postseason poise to slot behind their core four—Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso—could be a game-changer. Enter: Cedric Mullins.

7/15/25 Mets-White Sox trade prediction sends $50M former All-Star to New York. A high-stakes trade deadline is fast approaching for the New York Mets. As the Mets entered the All-Star break, they sat half a game behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the National League East lead. More importantly, they've been playing mediocre baseball for a month, and they need a center fielder. Tyrone Taylor hasn't been up to par at the plate, and Jose Siri has been out all season with a fractured leg.

7/14/25 How urgently should the Mets pursue Jarren Duran?. The July 31 trade deadline is right around the corner and the New York Mets are heavily expected to be active buyers. While the team has several needs, there may be no bigger need for an upgrade than in center field. Tyrone Taylor has played the lion's share in center this season, and while he's been an elite defender with a Fielding Run Value of 7 (19th in MLB), his bat has been a liability. Taylor is slashing just .213/.267/.313, and his struggles have made center field a prime area for improvement.

7/13/25 Mets cautioned against trading for dynamic Red Sox superstar. Center field seems like a pretty obvious area for the New York Mets to target at the trade deadline. With Tyrone Taylor taking the bulk of the starts at the position for now, the Mets have to wonder if there's an upgrade on the market. Jarren Duran, who can play center but usually mans left field for the Boston Red Sox, is one of the most intriguing names out there these days. Usually, a player of his caliber would never be available with 3 1/2 years left on his rookie deal, but the Boston outfield is so stacked that he just might be dealt.

7/10/25 MLB Mock Trade: New York Mets Land Adolis Garcia From Texas Rangers. The New York Mets came out of the gates on fire to start the 2025 season, but a midseason slump in June dropped them just behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East. With a razor-thin one-game deficit (as of this writing), the Mets remain firmly in striking distance—but with Tyrone Taylor struggling at the plate and Jose Siri sidelined, it might be time for the Metropolitans to make a splash before the trade deadline. After all, this is Juan Soto's first season in Queens, and expectations are sky-high for a deep October run. Enter Adolis García.

7/06/25 $106 million All-Star 'has made it clear' he would not accept trade to Mets. The New York Mets could be in the market for an outfielder near the trade deadline. Tyrone Taylor has been the Mets' primary center fielder this year. Jeff McNeil has started getting more looks in the outfield, but he is more valuable to fill the need in the Mets' infield.

7/05/25 How New York Mets could solve big lineup need. The New York Mets appear to have stabilized after a woeful two and a half week stretch, entering Saturday's game riding a three-game winning streak. While there are hopeful signs that the team's pitching and DH spots could get reinforcements in the next two weeks, center field remains a weakness for the Mets. Tyrone Taylor has been the Mets' starting center fielder for most of the year and has provided quality defense, but he has been in a big slump offensively, collecting just two hits in his last 35 at-bats dating back to June 19th. Jeff McNeil has more offensive pop out of center, but isn't as good as Taylor defensively.

6/29/25 Mets trade proposal would bring Pirates star to New York. The New York Mets are in a tight race with the Philadelphia Phillies for the National League East crown. Tyrone Taylor has been the team's primary center fielder, but he does not have much upside offensively. Jeff McNeil has started to see some time there, but his services are also needed at second base. Adding an outfielder at the deadline could be a huge boost for the Mets.

6/25/25 Red Sox may cut ties with $3.5M All-Star with in trade to Mets, per insider. The New York Mets are scuffling, and they need some help in the outfield. Unfortunately, Tyrone Taylor hasn't been able to secure center field as a near-full-time starter. Jose Siri is no guarantee to return from his leg fracture at this point, so New York would do well to land a true starting center fielder at the trade deadline. Boston Red Sox All-Star Jarren Duran would be a perfect fit if the Mets knew they were getting the 2024 version of him.

6/22/25 Mets-Angels trade idea cuts ties with Brett Baty for slugging outfielder. The New York Mets are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies at the top of the National League East. Tyrone Taylor has been the Mets' primary center fielder this season, and the Mets have gotten just a .666 OPS from center field on the year. FanSided's Stephen Parello suggested the Mets trade Brett Baty to the Los Angeles Angels to get Jo Adell.

6/13/25 Mets blockbuster trade pitch lands Marlins outfielder with .302 AVG. The New York Mets have only one glaring need at the trade deadline, at least from a position player perspective. Most of the lineup is in a great spot, but center field looks shaky. Tyrone Taylor has become the full-time starter in Jose Siri's absence, and he's managed an OPS+ of 86--serviceable, but not ideal. Chicago White Sox All-Star Luis Robert Jr. has fallen off the face of the earth, and Baltimore Orioles standout Cedric Mullins isn't playing strong defense anymore.

Try it free Tyrone Taylor has played the past two weeks with what teammate Brandon Nimmo described Thursday as a “crater” in his right hand. The cut, which Taylor said happened sliding into a base, was on the verge of healed, he said, until the sixth inning Thursday. Taylor will take the trade-off. It meant a highlight-reel grab on Luis García Jr.'s shot to right-center that loomed even larger after the Nationals scored three runs in the ninth inning in the Mets' 4-3 victory at Citi Field . 6/12/25 Marlins, Mets Could Swing Trade That Would Send Surging OF to New York. The Miami Marlins will likely move some key pieces between now and the MLB trade deadline, and because they haven't been shy about trading with NL East rivals before, the New York Mets could actually represent a viable trade partner for them. The Mets have one glaring need in their lineup: a center fielder. Tyrone Taylor is slashing just .236/.301/.337 with one home run and 11 RBI this season, and while he is terrific defensively, there is only so much New York can put up with his lack of offensive production. Enter Marlins outfielder Dane Myers, who is quietly enjoying a very impressive campaign and comprises a very obvious trade candidate for Miami.

6/10/25 Mets could fill 'obvious position of need' with trade for $50M All-Star. The New York Mets are leading the National League East, but could be looking to make some moves near the trade deadline in order to ensure a deep postseason run. The Mets have gotten just a .663 OPS from center field this year. Tyrone Taylor has seen most of the work there, but he is far from an ideal option. The New York Mets could explore the trade market to find an upgrade.

6/05/25 Mets trade proposal brings All-Star outfielder from AL East to Queens. The New York Mets are set up to be buyers at the MLB trade deadline. The Mets have had Tyrone Taylor as their primary centerfielder. Earlier this week, ESPN's Jeff Passan named Cedric Mullins as a potential fit for the Mets at the trade deadline. "Mullins has been one of the Orioles' lone bright spots this season, and as solid as Tyrone Taylor has been in center, Mullins' bat is significantly better and his glove, though admittedly lesser than Taylor's, is perfectly acceptable," wrote Passan.

6/04/25 Mets 4-player trade pitch cuts ties with Mark Vientos for $123M Red Sox All-Star. The New York Mets are currently leading the National League East, but it seems like it will be a tight race throughout the year. The Mets have used Tyrone Taylor as their primary center fielder. The Boston Red Sox are struggling and could be sellers at the trade deadline.

5/30/25 Mets named top potential trade suitors for $50 million Silver Slugger. Tyrone Taylor is a great player to have on a roster, but he's not a bat you want in your lineup every day. Meanwhile, Jose Siri is still out indefinitely, and the Mets don't seem to be eager to move Jeff McNeil to center on a full-time basis.

5/28/25 Mets rally past White Sox 2-1 on late sac flies by Soto and Lindor. NEW YORK -- - Tyrone Taylor hit a leadoff double in the ninth inning and scored on Francisco Lindor 's sacrifice fly as the New York Mets mounted a late comeback to edge the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Monday in the opener of a three-game series. New York managed just two baserunners through the first six innings against Adrian Houser and left the bases loaded in the seventh before Juan Soto delivered a tying sacrifice fly in the eighth. Steven Wilson (1-1) gave up Taylor's double to start the ninth. Jeff McNeil was intentionally walked and Luis Torrens singled to load the bases before Taylor trotted home on Lindor's fly to deep right field. Edwin Díaz (2-0) tossed a hitless inning for the win as
