CARSON BENGE I suggested in a comment on Monday that Jett Williams might be more advanced than Tyrone Taylor and his promotion to AA straight to the big leagues ought to be considered. I also suggested that Carson Benge through Sunday was hitting so well after his promotion to AA that the Mets might want to consider promoting him straight from AA to the majors. I have recently suggested that the incredible Jonah Tong could have helped the Mets more than some of David's painful parade of AAAA relievers, too, with Tong going straight from AA to the bigs. Someone taking the contrary view suggested that guys never go straight from AA to the majors. Special guys do, though. Center field has been a major struggle for the Mets this season, as Tyrone Taylor has had to assume most of the starting duties in the wake of Jose Siri's leg fracture. With Tyrone Taylor taking the bulk of the starts at the position for now, the Mets have to wonder if there's an upgrade on the market. Jarren Duran, who can play center but usually mans left field for the Boston Red Sox, is one of the most intriguing names out there these days. NEW YORK -- - Tyrone Taylor hit a leadoff double in the ninth inning and scored on Francisco Lindor 's sacrifice fly as the New York Mets mounted a late comeback to edge the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Monday in the opener of a three-game series. New York managed just two baserunners through the first six innings against Adrian Houser and left the bases loaded in the seventh before Juan Soto delivered a tying sacrifice fly in the eighth.
