7/23/25 Diamondbacks swept by Astros, late hit by Christian Walker. Christian Walker delivered the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning against his former club on Wednesday, as the Houston Astros completed a three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, 4-3. The Diamondbacks came back from down 3-1 entering the eighth inning to tie the game, but an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded left too much meat on the bone. Back-to-back bunt singles to lead off the ninth inning — the Astros recorded five bunt singles during this series — set the table for Walker against Kevin Ginkel.

7/21/25 Christian Walker Breaks Silence on Diamondbacks Departure. The Arizona Diamondbacks' three-game series with the Houston Astros brings notable reunion. Former Diamondbacks' Gold Glover and long-tenured first baseman Christian Walker makes his return to Chase Field. Ahead of game one, Walker caught up with members of the media about his free agency departure, his time with the D-backs, what it means to return to Arizona. While many rumors swirled about whether Walker received an offer to return to the D-backs, he ultimately signed a three-year, $60 million deal with the Astros, leaving Chase Field behind.

7/20/25 Astros rumors: Houston makes their top trade deadline need clear amid Yordan Alvarez injury. The Houston Astros are defying the odds and playing some good baseball this season, but it always ways to improve, and they know that. “The Astros are sitting in first place despite two members of their opening-day starting rotation undergoing Tommy John surgery, a third who hasn't pitched in a game since mid-April, their best player (Yordan Alvarez) hasn't played since May 2, and neither Christian Walker nor Yainer Diaz have an OPS above .690,” Nightengale wrote. Alvarez has been dealing with right hand inflammation, which has stopped him from getting on the field.

7/19/25 Did Astros Add Any Potential Future Impact Players on Day 2 of of MLB Draft?. While the Houston Astros were more limited in opportunities than most teams in the MLB draft, they managed to add some solid prospects on Day 2. The Astros had the fourth-lowest bonus pool in baseball with $7.18 million at their disposal, and they lost their second-round selection after signing Christian Walker. 7/13/25 Diamondbacks Take Patrick Forbes, RHP with 29th Pick in the Draft. The Arizona Diamondbacks chose college right-hander Patrick Forbes out of Louisville with their compensation round, 29th overall draft pick on Sunday. The pick was awarded to Arizona due to the Houston Astros signing Christian Walker, who had rejected a qualifying offer. The Cardinals converted him to a full-time reliever in 2024, and a starter in 2025. This is a power pitcher with a 60 fastball and 60 slider.

7/12/25 3 major outlets project Diamondbacks to take same player. The Arizona Diamondbacks will go into Sunday's MLB Draft with two picks in the top 30, drafting at spots 18 and 29. Arizona received the 29th pick as a supplemental pick in the draft due to Christian Walker's departure to the Houston Astros. The D-backs historically have tried to just take the best player available. The Diamondbacks had two picks in the top 35 last season, adding two outfield prospects in Slade Caldwell and Ryan Waldschmidt.

7/06/25 Christian Walker, Yainer Diaz and Jose Altuve homer in Astros' 5-1 win to complete sweep of Dodgers. LOS ANGELES -- - Christian Walker , Yainer Diaz and Jose Altuve each homered, Ryan Gusto threw six strong innings, and the Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 on Sunday to complete their first three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium since May 9-11, 2008. The Astros scored the go-ahead run in the sixth when No. 9 batter Zack Short capped an eight-pitch at-bat by drawing a two-out bases-loaded walk off reliever Will Klein (1-1) for a 2-1 lead. Walker and Diaz opened the eighth with homers off Dodgers closer Tanner Scott for a 4-1 lead, and Altuve added a solo shot in the ninth off Anthony Banda , as the Astros improved to a major league-best 24-8 since June 1. Gusto (6-3) wasn't dominant,

7/02/25 Astros predicted to replace Christian Walker with 78 home run slugger. The Houston Astros just can't seem to figure out what to do at first base. Unfortunately, that's continued to be the case with first baseman Christian Walker, whom they signed during the offseason. The hope and expectation was for Walker to be one of the better first basemen in Major League Baseball again, but frankly, that's been the complete opposite. Walker is much better than he's playing, and the hope is that he'll figure things out sometime in the near future.

7/01/25 Five Houston Astros Who Could be Dealt as MLB Trade Deadline Approaches. The Houston Astros appear to be lined up as clear buyers ahead of the July 31 MLB trade deadline. Houston leads the American League West Division and ended June with the best record of any team in the month. With July approaching, the Astros can work to shore up key areas of the team for a playoff chase. While the offense has picked up, Houston has a key issue at first base, where veteran Christian Walker has not been able to find his stride at the plate for most of the season.

6/23/25 Astros' Division Rivals 'Had Conversations' With Red Sox About Rafael Devers. The Houston Astros entered Monday with a five-game lead in the AL West. Considering how many injuries they have endured and how little impact they have gotten from big names like Christian Walker and Yordan Alvarez, it's been impressive what this group has done thus far in 2025. Despite not doing much this past offseason, the Seattle Mariners got off to a great start, finally looking like a competent team on offense after years of underwhelming numbers at the plate. Houston knows what they are looking to add ahead of the deadline, with some specific targets being circled as acquisitions that will help them create a more well-rounded roster.

6/21/25 Astros first baseman considered team's “most disappointing player”. The Houston Astros have longed for solid first base production. After years of mediocrity, Christian Walker was supposed to come in and change that. After being one MLB's more underrated first baseman as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Christian Walker signed a three-year, $60 million contract with the Astros this past offseason. Walker has seen his production fall off a cliff since landing in Houston.

6/13/25 Walker homers and drives in 4 as Astros rout White Sox 10-2. HOUSTON -- - Christian Walker homered among his three hits and had a season-high four RBI to lead the Houston Astros over the Chicago White Sox 10-2 on Wednesday night. Jose Altuve added two hits to give him 2,300 in his career, joining Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (2,342) as the only active players with at least 2,300. Altuve got things going with an RBI double in the first. There were two outs in the inning when Walker homered to left field off Sean Burke (3-7) to make it 3-0. Houston starter Ryan Gusto (4-3) allowed seven hits and two runs with a season-best seven strikeouts in a season-high six innings. 6/10/25 Astros rumors: Houston urged to make trade that moves Jose Altuve. The Houston Astros are 6-4 in their last 10 games and have a three-game lead in the American League West. However, Astros general manager Dana Brown finds himself under pressure ahead of this year's trade deadline. Houston made some significant moves this offseason, including bringing in Christian Walker . However, Yordan Alvarez's slump and Jose Altuve playing in left field instead of at second base has experts encouraging the team to bring in a veteran outfielder. With the exit of Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs this offseason left a hole in the Astros' outfield. For lack of a better option, Altuve moved from his primary position at second base into the outfield. Since making the move, the
