7/25/25 Blue Jays Bullpen Injuries Making Relievers Acute Need at MLB Trade Deadline. The Toronto Blue Jays may need to seek some relief on the trade market to boost their bullpen as the MLB trade deadline approaches next Thursday. Earlier this week, MLB.com reported that two relievers — Yimi Garcia and Nick Sandlin — both received cortisone injections in their throwing elbows. 7/18/25 Toronto Blue Jays share bad-news injury updates on three pitchers. Despite their great play as of late, the Toronto Blue Jays are an extremely banged-up bunch right now. The Blue Jays, who are back in action today following the All-Star break, gave injury updates on several players, and they aren't what fans were hoping to hear. In part of a lengthy update on X, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reported that Yimi Garcia, who last pitched in early July due to a sprained ankle, experienced ulnar nerve symptoms in his right elbow recently. Meanwhile, Bowden Francis suffered another setback.

7/05/25 Blue Jays Place Talented Relief Pitcher on 15-Day Injured List. As the Toronto Blue Jays continue to try to establish themselves as the team to beat in the American League East, they will be without a key member of their bullpen for a little while. After a fantastic series against the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays have proven they could be a contender in the AL this year. It was just a few weeks ago that Toronto might have considered being sellers, but they should now be looking to be aggressive at the trade deadline to improve a team that might be the best in the AL East. Unfortunately, injuries have been a bit of an issue for the Blue Jays this campaign, and reliever Yimi Garcia was recently placed on the injured list with a sprained ankle.

The Toronto Blue Jays placed reliever Yimi Garcia on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a right shoulder impingement. Right-hander Paxton Schultz was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and active for Toronto's game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night, the team said. Schultz, who made two appearances with the Blue Jays last month, was 1-3 with a 3.48 ERA over nine games with the Bisons.

7/30/24 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. offers his thoughts on Blue Jays moves. The Toronto Blue Jays have made their fair share of moves ahead of this evening's MLB trade deadline. Several Jays have been shipped out in recent days, with Yimi Garcia, Nate Pearson, Danny Jansen, Justin Turner, and Yusei Kikuchi all having new homes. Most of these deals weren't of big surprise, as the Blue Jays were expected to be sellers given their current 50-57 record.

8/24/22 Jays Win in Extra Innings. Yimi Garcia gave up a hit and a walk in the seventh but kept the game tied. Tim Mayza had some troubles in the eight, giving up a pair of singles, getting two outs, but Anthony Bass came in with runners on second and third and got a pair of strikeouts around an intentional walk. An amazing job by Bass.

8/09/22 Orioles beat the rain and Blue Jays. Try refreshing your browser, or Orioles beat the rain and Blue Jays Back to video Yimi Garcia did not. While Manoah survived a rough start to leave a rain-delayed game with a two-run lead, Garcia gave up a two-run shot to Orioles’ Roughned Odor in the eighth in a 6-5 loss. Manoah, ace of the Blue Jays staff, perhaps didn’t expect so much trouble from the O’s so early and often Tuesday, seemingly surrounded by orange and black on the bases from the get-go.

Yimi Garcia gave up just a walk in the 7th, and Julian Merryweather gave up two singles, but got helped out of the inning on a nice play by Bo Bichette. Jordan Romano came in for the 9th, and also gave up two singles. He too was helped out with some nice defense when Matt Chapman started a rare 5-4 double play.

10/11/21 White Sox-Astros just got interesting. The story of Dusty Baker being a goofus when the postseason comes has faded over the years, even if some still reach for it. Bringing in Yimi Garcia to relieve Luis Garcia when Leury Garcia had a 2-0 count is not the kind of thing we see often, but in playoff baseball you'd rather act too soon than too late and Luis Garcia definitely was hinting that he might not find the planet again. Maybe he should have just walked Leury intentionally to give Yimi a clean batter, but loading the bases intentionally isn't considered swift thinking either.
