Boston acquired the 34-year-old lefty from the Cardinals for corner infield prospect Blaze Jordan on Wednesday. The Sox activated him before Friday's game and optioned lefty Brennan Bernardino to Triple-A Worcester. Matz has gone to his curveball 20.6% of the time and opponents are batting .188 with a .205 expected batting average, .292 slugging percentage and .332 expected slugging percentage against it.
