7/29/25 Red Sox turn turbulent flight into latest in-game celebration and score much-needed win over Twins. At that moment, Rob Refsnyder, from one locker over, chimed in. Story said he noticed the plane wings when Ceddanne Rafaela did it after his third-inning triple, the start of a four-run rally against righthander Pierson Ohl. Rafaela said he was mirroring somebody who did the same the day prior. Duran said he didn't know anything until catching on Tuesday, then obliged as he rounded the bases following his homer — off the face of the second deck in center field — in the fifth.

7/25/25 Red Sox erase five-run deficit, beat Phillies in 11 innings to avoid sweep. Baseball has no shortage of unwritten rules, but among the most important is “don't give the opposing team extra outs.”The Philadelphia Phillies are a championship contender, but Wednesday they broke that rule and paid for it dearly.Leading the Red Sox by five runs in the top of the fifth, the Phillies should have gotten out of the inning unscathed when Rob Refsnyder hit a sky high pop-up behind… Premium Content is available to subscribers only. 7/23/25 Phillies' Cristopher Sánchez shows he has come a long way with a complete-game victory. As recently as two years ago, Cristopher Sánchez was a pitcher in transition, earning some major league time yet frequently shuttling between the Phillies and their Triple-A affiliate in the Lehigh Valley. The 28-year-old Sánchez showed his stuff again Tuesday night, pitching a four-hitter in a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the 24th complete game in the majors this season. In the course of a 106-pitch gem, he allowed a fourth-inning home run to Rob Refsnyder and also struck out 12 and induced 13 ground-ball outs. While becoming a regular starter only late in the 2023 season, Sánchez wiped away his early career inconsistency and was an All-Star last season, and probably should have been one this season, too.

7/23/25 Phillies Cristopher Sánchez shows he has come a long way with a complete-game victory. He was also trying to establish himself, at both levels, as a starting pitcher, one who has now not only has shown an affinity for pitching for length, but pitching as effectively as anyone in baseball. 7/18/25 Red Sox Veteran Loves Boston, Open To Contract Talks. Rob Refsnyder has been a key piece for the Boston Red Sox in 2025. While his role isn't one of an everyday player, his contributions don't go unnoticed. Against left-handed pitching, he's hitting .292 with four home runs and 14 runs batted in. He's also walking in 13.8% of at-bats against righties, contributing to his 151 wRC+. Refsnyder is in the final year of his contract, but he'd love to stay in Boston longer. He told MassLive's Chris Cotillo that he's open to a contract extension. “I'm always open to (talks), but it is selfish thinking about yourself when you're right in the middle of chasing a wild card,” Refsnyder said. “I won't hide the fact that I love Boston. I've been very appreciative

7/05/25 Red Sox unsung infielder ‘really locked in’ with .379 average, 1.136 OPS against lefties. Rob Refsnyder often gets billed as the Red Sox’ resident lefty-masher, but it's time to start paying attention to Romy Gonzalez, too.

6/25/25 Red Sox can't hold back Angels, lose fifth straight to finish West Coast road trip. Rob Refsnyder said he “can't pinpoint” what has gone wrong at the plate since the Red Sox dealt Rafael Devers, their best hitter, to the Giants. “Raffy has been a part of the lineup for a long time, but it's our job to make adjustments,” Refsnyder said. Post-Devers, the Red Sox have used a motley crew in his former No. 2 spot (Abraham Toro, Carlos Narváez, Roman Anthony, Jarren Duran) and at DH (Kristian Campbell, Refsnyder, Romy González, Anthony, Duran).

6/23/25 Red Sox veteran explains decision to not retire after 2024 season. Rob Refsnyder flirted with the possibility of retirement last August before he ultimately returned to the Red Sox for the 2025 season. “Really it was just the conversation of last year was my last guaranteed deal here and then they had the team option,” Refsnyder told WEEI's Rob Bradford. The Red Sox exercised Refsnyder's $2.1 million option in November rather than buy him out for $150,000. Despite a crowded outfield in 2024, Refsnyder set career highs in games played (93), hits (77), runs scored (32), doubles (16), home runs (11) and RBI (40).

6/22/25 Why Red Sox Veteran Decided Not To Retire. Last season Red Sox veteran Rob Refsnyder said he may retire after the season, which some people, including manager Alex Cora, didn't believe. Now, this season, it's a good thing Refsnyder decided to continue his baseball career. The veteran has been helpful to the Red Sox lineup, coming in whenever he is needed by Cora. Despite going through some struggles throughout the season, Refsnyder is batting .301 and has a .388 OBP through 33 games.

5/16/25 In his Fenway return, Chris Sale outduels Garrett Crochet as Braves send Red Sox to fourth straight loss. Stepping on the mound at Fenway for the first time brought all those moments back. “It's like walking into your childhood home,” Sale said. The Sox's challenge was trying not to be overwhelmed by Sale — which proved impossible. The only damage the Sox could muster off Sale was a leadoff solo homer by Rob Refsnyder in the seventh.

5/10/25 Red Sox lineup: Lefty masher (back spasms) out in battle of All-Star starting pitchers. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Facing a tough lefty Saturday afternoon, the Red Sox would love to have southpaw masher Rob Refsnyder in their lineup . Because of back spasms, however, they won't. Refsnyder, who has not played since May 1 (last Thursday) and has been dealing with his back issue since Sunday, according to manager Alex Cora. The expectation is that the veteran outfielder will avoid the injured list but he still wasn't ready to be in the lineup against Cole Ragans in the middle game of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. “This happened a few days ago. A little bit tight,” Cora said. “We needed him yesterday, to be honest with you, not before that. It's part of 162. He should be OK. He swung

4/28/25 Instead of retired life, outfielder Rob Refsnyder rolls right along in important Red Sox role. Refsnyder has hit .333 with a .967 OPS through 12 games and 36 plate appearances this season. “He's been huge for us,” manager Alex Cora said. In Refsnyder and infielder Romy Gonzalez, the Sox have two players who can still produce after not playing for a few days. Gonzalez drew a walk and scored two runs playing first base.

Rob Refsnyder and Kristian Campbell both homered in a five-run first inning, with Refsnyder blasting a ball over the bleachers in left and Campbell lining a ball 415 feet to dead center. David Hamilton later added a three-run homer. Marcelo Mayer capped his spectacular two-day performance in Mexico by going 3 for 4 with a double.

11/25/24 Bleacher Report has wild offseason trade prediction for Red Sox. Boston has an excess of left-handed hitters and plenty of talented outfielders in its prospect pool, which has led many reporters and experts to believe that Duran and Abreu could be the team's two prime trade candidates, especially after their stellar 2024 seasons. Reporter Tim Kelly named Rob Refsnyder as the Red Sox's likeliest trade candidate.

11/20/24 Baltimore Orioles Trade Idea Nets Underrated Boston Red Sox Slugger. The Baltimore Orioles are set to lose a ton of offensive production this offseason and need to look to either free agency or the trade market to fill the open role. In finding good options on the market, Boston Red Sox outfield slugger Rob Refsnyder was named their most likely player to be traded by Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly. The Red Sox might be enticed to swap the expiring contract for two potentially pro-ready hurlers. The cost might even be less, considering Refsnyder's deal is only for $2 million in 2025.
