8/02/25 Current Seattle Mariners Team Starting to Have Similar Vibes to 2022. The Seattle Mariners front office made a clear statement with their trade deadline moves. The addition of first baseman Josh Naylor, left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson and third baseman Eugenio Suarez was a vote of confidence from the front office to the current roster that this version of the club could make a legitimate run at the postseason. In the small sample size since the Suarez acquisition Wednesday, that confidence has been well-placed. Seattle went 2-0 through the first two of a four-game series against the Texas Rangers on Thursday and Friday.

8/01/25 MLB rumors: How GMs actually feel about dealing with Red Sox in trade talks. The New York Yankees reloaded their bullpen with former All-Star closers and infused defensive versatility to their infield. The Seattle Mariners acquired Josh Naylor and brought back Eugenio Suarez, strengthening a lineup that already includes MVP contender Cal Raleigh and the capable Julio Rodriguez. Determined to keep pace in the American League West and Wild Card races, the Texas Rangers added veteran pitcher Merrill Kelly to their imposing starting rotation.

8/01/25 ESPN MLB Insider Makes Bold Assertion About Seattle Mariners as Playoff Push Mounts. The Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 6-0 on Thursday night, taking over sole possession in the battle for the third and final wild card spot in the American League. The M's showed off their newest additions in front of the home crowd for the first time, as Josh Naylor went 1-for-4 with a single and Eugenio Suarez went 1-for-4 with a double. Furthermore, Caleb Ferguson threw a scoreless inning in relief. Given what the M's accomplished at the trade deadline, ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney is feeling very confident in Seattle's ability to make the playoffs - and make a run - in 2025.

7/31/25 Hall: D-backs can 'rediscover' themselves after trades. It's been clear for a full week leading into the MLB trade deadline that the Arizona Diamondbacks had already decided their 2025 direction. D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said it out loud hours before the team traded first baseman Josh Naylor. The Eugenio Suarez deal on deadline eve is likely not the last move for Arizona, with starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly on contract years and receiving plenty of trade interest.

7/31/25 Red Sox trying to trade for Eugenio Suarez is total slap in the face to Rafael Devers. The Seattle Mariners have made two of the biggest deals of the 2025 trade deadline so far by acquiring Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Naylor would have made sense as a target for the Boston Red Sox, as they need a full-time first baseman to relieve the Abraham Toro-Romy Gonzalez platoon at the position.

7/29/25 Report: Astros Interested in Diamondbacks' Young Outfielder. The Diamondbacks continue to barrel towards an eventual fire sale, as they've lost six of their last seven, and have already made a pair of early trade deals, sending first baseman Josh Naylor to the Mariners and outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Royals. While it's obvious that Arizona has taken advantage of a pair of expiring contracts, and may look to sell more such pending free agents, they also may be open to deals involving some of their young, controllable outfielders.

7/25/25 M's hope to have Josh Naylor in lineup Friday vs. Angels. All things considered, the Seattle Mariners probably couldn't have asked for a better start to their seven-game road trip leading into the trade deadline. Shortly before the Mariners took the field for an eventual 4-2 victory over the Angels on Thursday, it was announced that Seattle, in desperate need of offensive firepower, obtained first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks for a pair of pitching prospects. Naylor was a 2024 All-Star when he produced 31 homers and 108 RBIs for the Cleveland Guardians.

7/23/25 Slade Cecconi, Guardians out to extend hot streak vs. Orioles. Cleveland Guardians fans haven't forgotten about Josh Naylor, but they do feel much better about the trade that sent him to the Arizona Diamondbacks last Dec. 21. Slade Cecconi, who was acquired along with a draft pick for the cleanup-hitting slugger, has been the Guardians' most consistent starter over the past five weeks. Cecconi (5-4, 3.84 ERA) takes on fellow right-hander Zach Eflin (6-5, 5.95) in the third contest of Baltimore's four-game series in Cleveland on Wednesday. The Guardians have won 10 of their past 12 games, including the first two in their set against the Orioles to creep back within 2 1/2 games of the final American League wild-card spot.
