Few expected the Milwaukee Brewers to have the best record in baseball at the trade deadline, but once they got there, it was intriguing to find out how they would conduct themselves. Obviously, the Brewers weren't going to sell. Milwaukee brought in backup catcher Danny Jansen, reliever Shelby Miller, and the rest of the money on injured left-hander Jordan Montgomery's contract. The 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline will pass on Thursday night and as of writing, the Milwaukee Brewers haven't done too much this week. Milwaukee upgraded the backup catcher position by acquiring Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays. Outside of that move, there hasn't been many rumors out there about the Brewers. Jansen was in Tampa Bay's original lineup against the New York Yankees but got pulled about 45 minutes before the first pitch. The trade was announced shortly after the Rays ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 win at Yankee Stadium. In a twist of fate, it was a Timber Rattlers player sent to another organization who brought Jansen back to Wisconsin. Jansen, 30, joined the Brewers on July 29, one day after Milwaukee consummated a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Class A infielder Jadher Areinamo. MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired catcher Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor league infielder Jadher Areinamo. The 30 year old Jansen grew up in Grand Chute and graduated from Appleton West High School. He's spent eight years in the majors with Toronto, Boston and Tampa. He's currently hitting .204/.314/.389 with 11 homers and 29 RBIs in 73 games this season. The 21 year old Areinamo was signed by the Brewers as an undrafted free agent out of Venezuela in 2021 and was playing for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers this season. Danny Jansen hit a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs, Taj Bradley pitched two-hit ball for 6 2/3 scoreless innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 on Tuesday night. The Tampa Bay Rays were sloppy Friday night, issuing seven walks, hitting a batter and committing three errors that led to five unearned runs. The Rays rapped out 13 hits Friday night to improve to 16-6 over the last 22 games. In that stretch, they've averaging an MLB-high 5.7 runs per game and have swiped 36 bases, more than any team in MLB. Tampa Bay Rays catcher Danny Jansen has been out for the past few days due to a pulled rib muscle, manager Kevin Cash told reporters Saturday morning.
