7/28/25 Seattle Mariners Prospect Wins Weekly Award as Trade Rumors Swirl. Congratulations are in order for a pair of Tacoma Rainiers players, as 37-year-old Casey Lawrence was named as the Pitcher of the Week in the Pacific Coast League, with first baseman Tyler Locklear earning the Hitter of the Week honors. Lawrence threw a complete game to earn a win, giving up just one run on two hits. Locklear hit .478 for the week with five homers and a .571 on-base percentage. At 24-years-old, Locklear is having a massive year for the Rainiers, hitting .316 with 19 homers, 81 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.

7/10/25 Seattle Mariners' 37-Year-Old Minor Leaguer Makes History of the Last Decade. While the Seattle Mariners were losing to the New York Yankees in New York on Wednesday night, veteran right-hander Casey Lawrence was spinning a historic gem for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Per Tacoma's PR: Lawrence became the 1st minor league pitcher at least 37 years old to throw 7.0 shutout without a walk since Brad Penny (7.0 IP, 7H, 0R, 0BB, 5K) did so for Charlotte against Gwinnett on August 11, 2015.

6/09/25 Well-Traveled Reliever Gets Outrighted to Triple-A Roster By Seattle Mariners. The Seattle Mariners announced a minor roster move on Monday, as relief pitcher Casey Lawrence cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma. Lawrence, 37, has been up-and-down with the Mariners all season, and he even made an appearance for the Toronto Blue Jays as well. Thus far, he's struck out seven batters in 17.2 total innings.

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President and General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster move to designate Casey Lawrence for assignment, and in the corresponding move, the club has activated right-hander Trent Thornton. The right-hander has appeared in 7 Major League seasons with Toronto from 2019–23 and Seattle starting in 2023.

5/22/25 Mariners Designate Right-Hander Casey Lawrence for Assignment. After pitching five bulk innings in a shutout loss against the Chicago White Sox, the Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday morning that they have DFA'd 37-year-old right-hander Casey Lawrence, and in the corresponding move, the M's select fellow righty Jesse Hahn. Lawrence appeared in six games for Seattle this season and posted a 1-2 record with a 4.08 ERA through 17.2 innings of work. Before this move, the team selected Lawrence from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday evening before the afternoon game against Chicago.

Casey Lawrence, the 37-year-old, right-handed reliever, threw the bulk of the game after opener Casey Legumina. It was the first outing of Lawrence's third stint with the team. 5/20/25 Seattle Mariners Option Left-Handed Reliever Jhonathan Diaz to Triple-A. The Seattle Mariners made roster moves in anticipation of a rare bullpen today before a schedule game against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The Mariners called up 37-year-old Casey Lawrence and optioned left-handed reliever Jhonathan Diaz to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers in a corresponding move. Diaz was selected from the Rainiers on May 14 but didn't make an appearance his six days with the club. There was an assumption he could start for Seattle on Tuesday, as he did once in 2024.

5/20/25 Returning Casey Lawrence might start for Mariners vs. White Sox. After batting just .202 in April, Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez has regrouped in May. Rodriguez has hit safely in seven straight games and 11 of 12 entering the Mariners' Tuesday road game against the Chicago White Sox. The two-time All-Star belted an eighth-inning grand slam on Monday to break things open in Seattle's series-opening 5-1 win. "I guess it says my swing is feeling good, so I'm just trying to continue to build on that and bring it on for the next day," Rodriguez said.

5/08/25 Seattle Mariners re-sign pitcher after his fourth DFA of '25. The curious case of veteran pitcher Casey Lawrence and his 2025 season has taken another turn. Lawrence is back with the Seattle Mariners organization, re-signing with the team on a minor league contract after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays. It's a familiar position for the 37-year-old right-hander, as Lawrence has been designated for assignment four times in total and three times by the Mariners this season alone. Lawrence signed with the Mariners on a minor league contract last November and started the season with Triple-A Tacoma.

Today, the organization announced that they'd claimed veteran pitcher Casey Lawrence off waivers from the Seattle Mariners, adding a bit of depth to their staff by acquiring the 37-year-old right-hander. Lawrence was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Mariners. It's the third go-around with the organization for Lawrence, who played 10 games for the team at the major league level, appearing in games in both the 2017 and 2022 seasons.

The Seattle Mariners made a roster move ahead of their series opener in Toronto on Friday to add – you guessed it – help for the bullpen. Seattle recalled veteran Casey Lawrence from Triple-A Tacoma and optioned rookie Troy Taylor to the Rainiers on Friday afternoon. The Mariners have done a significant amount of bullpen shuffling already just three weeks into the season as they have used their relievers for more innings than all but one other team in baseball.

In order to win the bronze medal, Team USA beat Team Venezuela 6-1. There was a distinctly Seattle Mariners theme to the medal-clinching game as current minor leaguer Casey Lawrence earned the win on the mound and former M's reliever Dan Altavilla shut the door in the ninth inning. Players who are not on 40-man rosters can play, so the Team USA roster was filled with prospects, free agents and aging veterans.
