7/30/25	Report: Braves to 'Entertain' Ozzie Albies Trade Offers. Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies, unfortunately, has seemed to be a shell of himself in the 2025 season. The former two-time All-Star has developed an unsatisfactory reputation among many Braves fans, and it unfortunately may lead to his eventual departure from the team. Tuesday, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that the Braves, though having a $7 million option for Albies' 2027 season, would “at least listen to trade offers” regarding their second baseman. The Atlanta Braves have had a disappointing season, and the trade deadline could be where they officially punt on the year. While reports suggest Ozzie Albies will not be traded this week, the Braves could change their mind. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Braves could entertain trading Albies in the winter. "Even with Atlanta All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies' struggles this year, Atlanta plans to pick up his $7 million option this winter and will at least listen to trade offers for him," wrote Nightengale. Albies' name has been floated in trade rumors, but he's a bit of a complicated case between his struggles at the plate and his team-friendly contract for the next couple years. It sounds like the Braves don't totally want to give up on him yet. It's interesting that the Braves' desire to activate Albies' team option emerges at the same time as the idea that they'll still listen to trade offers, but that could be to try and drive his price up a bit. The Houston Astros are in the market for a left-handed hitter, and ideally, would also bring in a new second baseman. While the middle-infield trade market isn't bountiful, there is an option that has newly been linked to the Astros. Luckily for them Ozzie Albies brought the power and Ronald Acuña Jr. stole the show on defense. In the eighth inning of Monday night's series-opening victory against the Brewers, Ozzie Albies slapped a single into left field. The single was Albies' 1,000th-career hit, making him the first second baseman to record 1,000 hits with the club. “He's putting together a really nice career,” manager Brian Snitker told reporters in Milwaukee. Just two years after setting a Major League Baseball team record for slugging percentage, the Atlanta Braves has become a shell of itself despite having most of the same players. The regression actually started last year, when the Braves fell from first in MLB in runs to 15th, but much of that could be attributed to injuries to star players like Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley. This year, however, the Braves have been mostly healthy aside from catcher Sean Murphy spending the first few weeks on the injured list and Acuña Jr. not returning from his ACL injury until mid-May, and they have even gotten a boost from rookie Drake Baldwin, who has hit .315 with a .880 OPS.
